Media player in Firefox

I am having the same exact problem as you. I am using Windows XP along with Norton Antivirus and ZoneAlarm firewall.

I have check everything. I even Uninstalled Firefox and Re-Installed it and the same thing happens.
It is also happening in Netscape as well.

However the player works fine with Internet Explorer.
 
And what exactly are you trying to play, MP3 Files, MOV files, AVI files, MPG files?

Usually Firefox will play them, thats if your Media Player is set to play them in media browsers. Sometimes players like Quicktime will play them in the browser, this goes for Windows Media Player and Real Player.
 
ya, it's a pain in the ass. you have to DL "media player connectivity" from firefox, once installed, shut down firefox, then restart, then go to "tools", "media player connectivity", "configure" and tell it what you want it to open. then restart firefox again, (when it works it'll open media player, it NEVER opens in firefox window), then with zonealarm, you have to give it permission! TOTAL pain like i said. hope that helps.

If you are having problems with Quick Time, go into setting and there is a button that says mime something or other. Open that and click off the check box for flash animation. That solved all my problems in Firefox and the Beta of the new Explorer
 
what's the one site? maybe I can figure it out, I'm kind of a computer geek !oops!
or did it finally work?

o.k., I went there and clicked on the Broadband media player link and it started my media player and played just fine. Since you said it is working on other pages for you, I can't imagine ZoneAlarm's the problem, so maybe cookies are the problem? what's the exact alarm or whatever that media player gives? or does it just not pop up for that page?
I know I know, questions questions questions! ;)
 
that is so freakin wierd, you have the latest media player so it shouldn't be a "codecs" problem....it's truely acting like a program wont let it have permission to look at that particular file, I just can't fathom which one......oh, duh, cookies (i just re-read the posts). Do you have a little pic of a cookie in the bottom right of your browser window? (For speed purposes I'll assume you do :cool: ). go to that page, then left click the cookie, you should have multi options, click on "allow blahblah.com" (where "blahblah" is that site address) and see if that will make it work. either way you don't have to let them get away with cookie crap, so when done go back to that cookie down below and right click it, then left click "clear cookies for this site"

I'm still having problems with CNN playing with Firefox. And it's not related to their pay service, this is their FREE video service.

Would it be helpful if someone could post print screens of these particular errors they are getting so we could get a better understanding? I'm talking about those people who are not really that computer savvy.

Believe it or not I'm new to WindowsXP so I don't know all the ins & outs on how to post print screens.

Thanks in advance.
