I'm interested in finding out; how do guys meet for a hookup. Does one guy actually give out his address and hope the guy that shows up looks like the guy he was chatting with? Or is not crazy? or shows up at all?

I prefer to meet at the nearby Starbucks ( i give them my cell #) and check each other out, get a feel for what the other guy is about.

For most guys its a deal breaker. They won't meet in public. I'm not comfortable giving out my address to a stranger.

How do others handle this situation?

You are doing great. Never give your address until at least you check the chemistry and felt fine about him.
 
Better to go to his place than yours. Meet only discreet guys and get to know them with a lot of emails before the hookup. If it is a bi guy who is on the down low he has just as much to protect as you. You have to connect on some level before you meet.
 
I've had bad experiences giving out too much personal info too soon. Meet people in public first, have a separate hook up e-mail, and don't give out your cell number or address until you know the person REALLY well.

The last thing you want is some psycho stalker showing up at all hours at your house or work place making trouble for you and being an embarrassment, and don't think it can't happen to you!

I made my last ex date me 6 times (meeting at a public place) before he could 'earn' my phone number and address.
 
I often try to find their real names/Facebooks/Twitters/linkedin etc. These things prove what kind of person he is, and also give additional pics to make sure they're not fakes or good angles. I've actually weeded several people out this way. Hot pic, but wait, he only sent one. Find facebook, discover its a fake or amazing model angle.

How to do this? sometimes they're stupid and use their real name in the email. If not, I can try googling their email address, or getting their phone number and tracing their number to reveal their real name.

If I give out an address I use the closest major intersection. I always meet outside first. I use Google Voice for my phone, so no one actually has my real number.

I won't meet unless I know a guy's full name and have found additional info beside what he's given me. So far, it's worked pretty well.
 
i dont think ive ever had somebody refuse to meet in public. some just want to hookup, not even do a date first, but thats fine (to me at least) i just let em know that the actual first face to face meet needs to be public and then we can head somewhere private.

Great advise. Don't give out too much personal info and definitely make a separate email account for this project because if you are not comfortable with things you can delete the account and not have a trail.
 
I usually meet someplace public but discreet, or I tell them I'll be at their place and if they don't like what they see when I open the door no hard feelings.
