Hey all, even though I'm technically in Canberra, I'll be in Melbourne at the time (and it is my home town) so I'd love to come if I'm welcome!! :D

Only problem is that its just after a hip operation for me, but I'll see how I go!!
 
I think it would be better to meet some where indoors first and then we can go from there because the gardens are huge plus what if the weathers bad cold or whatever plus not everyone is going to be there at the same time

the current forcast is for 17C and showers and i really dont want to have to wait for everyone in the cold and rain
 
Alrighty.

Given that the weather is going to be shit, an out-door venue is out of the question, because if we're all cold, we'll all just sit around whingeing about it beeing bloody freezing!

I went scouting out venues today, and E:55 on Elizabeth Street is the closest and easiest in terms of public transport, given that it's a short distance from Flinders Street Station - which means people who're further out don't have to swap trains or onto trams or whatever. E:55 also has a big seating area, you can do pretty much whatever you like in there (eat/drink/smoke) and won't have anyone give a second glance. It's also not gay-affiliated, for the less out people. Infact, the worst people would think of you for going in there, is that you were a bohemian (they let artists sell their work, by putting it up on the walls...)

And, given that people've spoken to me about the time, I'm saying that around 1 would be best, that way people can come, and still get to whatever they've got to do later in the afternoon. Saturday that is. Sorry MyDrew, but in consideration for people who catch PT, Sunday is an absolute bitch to travel on. In fact, if it was Sunday, I wouldn't be able to come at all, because where I live, there's six busses all day, and they don't even stop at the same stops - It's a fourty minute walk to the closest bus-stop. So, I'm sorry, but it's staying as Saturday.

And remember, this is just the first meet-up. If this isn't EXACTLY what you wanted to do - don't fret. There'll be other times, and suggestions are always welcome!

e55 is really easy to find but since it is downstairs it is just a door on Elisabeth st

looking down Elizabeth st from Flinders it is on the left just after Flinders lane
