I have seen only one man here wearing one of those 'utilikilts' which have pockets. It looked like it was made out of cotton drill. My pleated woollen kilt is too hot and impractical for wearing everyday in Australia.

I'm tempted - but only when I've been able to build up my leg muscles - mind you, I have good calves already!!! :)

But what footwear? They're best worn with boots, but that doesn't sit well with hot summer weather. I guess ordinary simple sandals work best.

Wearing a kilt may be a good way for a tourist not to "look American" when traveling overseas. I have a couple of friends who have the Canadian Maple Leaf [or FLAG] on their luggage, or even on some of the shirts they wear, etc.

But, when talking with people in the place being visited, it might be a little easier to "sound Canadian" than to "sound Scottish" LOL.
