Men Who Don t Want To Wear Speedo At The Pool

Have you notice when you go at the pool most men wear shorts and no speedo?

Do you think its because men don t want to show their bulge?

Do you think men are shy?

I did notice European men tend to favor the skimpy speedos; whether they are in shape or not.

G-Lex, Ned : You guys are hilarious !!! ;)

But yeah, i agree, Speedos aren't for everybody to wear. BUT long bathing suits still look weird, IMHO. And I'm not just talking about 45-year-olds...I mean all the guys my age wear the long pants too and it just looks ridiculous ! Most of them ain't got nothin' to hide...they just do it because everyone else does it !

But I agree..most people look better with clothes ON than OFF ! ;)

So....can at least all the guys who CAN pull it off please wear Speedos and not foot-long PANTS ??! :)

Wildhog : Yup,that's true. The long bathing stuff is an American thing. Gradually it's started coming this way too though ! And it's TICKING ME OFF !!! Why do we have to just copy the Americans ? Don't we have, like, a brain of our own or what ? What bugs me most is that all those guys here that were those horribly long pants just do it because they see it in US movies etc, not because there is any real reason !

I just wear my speedo when I do laps---It's more comfortable than trunks when you are swimming for a extended period of time. When I wore my trunks it feels like they are sliding down and I have to adjust them to much, the speedo stays in place and I can do my flip turns with no worries. But I would never wear the speedo out just to loung at a public pool or the lake.

As much as I enjoy pictures of men in speedos/lycra/etc, it embarrasses me when I encounter it in real life.

I was once on vacation waaay back when, and there was this kid (literally, between 8 and 11) in the pool with a speedo and I thought it was the weirdest thing of all.

Maybe it's just an American thing that Speedos are not so common among any age group?

I only wear one under my cargo shorts if I suspect I'm going to be getting wet that day (water rides/boating/etc...). Dries a lot faster and more comfortable than underwear.

They look great on Olympic swimmers -- and the last time I wore one (red - of course) I was a competitive swimmer. getting out of a pool was tuff -- because the "suction" effect just plastered that flimsy material to your crotch - and trying to pull it away was like breaking a strong magnetic hold - but if totally in shape guys with something to show wear them - I'll be watching to see if they're jewish or not !! If they're especially proud - or looking for a date , they can walk around with a chubby - all the better !!

Love speedos on tall swimmer types - right?

I wear boardies - they look good on me - cause I'm not that tall and don't have a swimmer's body

like this guy

Ok, at least SHORTS then !

But if I'm saying shorts, I mean SHORTS ! Not knee-long or longer crap ! Cos apparently for a lot of people, even that counts as shorts ! For me, "shorts" are above the knee...and not as short as Speedos. ;)

Likewise. Sometimes you just have to do whatever works.

Okay. Speedos don't look good on anyone unless they DO have a swimmer's body. BUT!!! I also think board shorts look kind of odd for the pool. Maybe they are more appropriate for the beach, but even then, the name implies what they are used for. They also suck for tanning. Who wants their legs tanned from just the knee down?

So! If speedos are out, and I really hate long board shorts, tell me what is out there that is appropriate?

What are you wearing this summer? Pics would be nice!

I'm not sure which beaches you are going to, but I live at Venice Beach (aka Muscle Beach), and speedos tend to be worn only by European tourists (who are very easy to spot) and some of the body builders. Until recently, the gay beach in Santa Monica (Will Rogers beach aka Ginger Rogers beach) had gays in bikinis, but I haven't checked it out in the past couple of years.

The surfers have a very particular style that changes somewhat from year to year, and if you don't follow the correct trend, you are immediately known as an outsider. The OC (Orange County) beaches are much more territorial than Venice and Santa Monica (we get more sophisticated and cosmopolitan tourists up here), and consequently the dress codes are stricter. I've seen muscled guys jog up and down the beach here in Venice in loin cloths that would flat in the wind, revealing a naked butt (too bad I don't have a video of that).

In the 90s, girls used to roller blade on the bike paths here (rolling blading/skating is prohibited on the bike paths - BIKES ONLY!) wearing thongs, but fortunately the trend more recently has been to cover up more, although you can still buy postcards of women wearing dental floss. I'm not sure if they were outlawed or not, but I've seen male exhibitionists at the beach here frequently also, who will flash their genitals at guys that they think are interested/interesting. There was a nude beach here in Venice in the 70s, but that didn't last very long.

I know that there are laws against speedos on many beeches here.

I own a speedo, and this was MY reaction upon checking myself out in a mirror:
*walks in front of mirror*
me: "omg, fuck no!.......Jesus!"

To me a lap is somethng that you do with your tongue:p

Well... speedo (and that's not the name, that's a brand) was created for competitive swiming, it's designed for speed (speedo - speed... duh).

To me is equally wrong use a speedo in a recreational pool as is use bermuda/short swimsuit in a event at sports pool. It's like going to gym with formal shoes.

^I dunno.

If I could actually pull it off with a good old-fashioned micro-Speedo that you see on an Olympic diver, I'd wear it EVERYWHERE.

Because if you've got it, flaunt it.

I've always tempted to wear one but could not. Thinking that I look nice in them doesn't mean other people will think so too! I have to admit, I don't have the perfect body for them.

One of these days, I will be brave enough to wear a speedo to the pool and the beach! Ofcourse, I have to get back to exercising for that to ever happen!
