Meow...

Buy the solid white tuna and feed it to your cat.

Job done. Money saved.

Yeah it makes no sense, but you gonna have to buy the cat food, The tuna is not good for cats, nor does it have the nutrients they need.

Solid white albacore tuna is $8 a can for the good stuff.. the kitty definitely gets some of that on adoption day :)

Whats wrong with "some" left over food and crumbs for the cat ?

You must be buying some cheap shit tuna.

We pay about 52 cents a can for the Purina cat food and about $1.00 for the prescription diet that the oldest one gets.

I wanna know where I can get tuna for that price.

^No, don't do that. Tuna isn't good for cats. It contains mercury and is too salty; it causes their kidneys to fail over time. It's alright for a very occasional treat, but you shouldn't give tuna to cats more than once every one or two weeks.

So much for my meagre attempt at humour in these changing times.

Perhaps you're too young to remember seniors buying cat food because they couldn't afford real meat.

Well we're not paying a buck a can for most of our cat food for 5 ounces. I think we pay about 79 cents on average.

As long as your tuna is dolphin friendly...eat whatever type you enjoy the most.

Is your cat becoming the 1%

I think you must occupy the litter box. :p

I bet your cat is smirking at you for starting this thread. He knows who is dominant.

Our vet says to feed our cat only dry food. Otherwise, kidney problems. Our last cat was 18 when she died, and our new cat is almost a year old and only eats dry food. But we cheat and give her food off our plates now and again. She is spoiled rotten! Oh, and no milk--calcium can cause problems with cats.

If your cat is not out in the wild, hunting for itself, it needs a specific set of nutrients it would get with its natural prey. Taurine, for one -- if cats don't get that, they go blind. That's why you don't feed a cat dog food. Also, if a cat doesn't get some dry - to simulate crunching bones and similarly textured things - his teeth are more likely to go bad.

I can believe the cat food cost more. A regional supermarket chain here often sells StarKist tuna 2 cans for a $1.00.

I have to admit I'm spoiled. I like to buy my tuna in pouches instead of cans.
