I would say it depends on the guy.

Most guys, if I am casually interested in them, would be in the 3-4 range.

If it is someone who I am really into (or someone I love) I know that I would crave more scent. (5-6)
 
It's funny, I haven't worn any deodorant for six days now . . . and on the first day, by like 7pm I could smell a kind of sweaty smell if I got my nose right into my pit hair (which, full disclosure, got me really horny btw) - but then I had a shower in the morning and it was gone . . but then by like 5pm I could smell it again . .. and to make a long story short, six days later .. even after the shower I can still smell that musky smell a little bit . . and by 11am it's quite strong (not strong enough for a stranger to notice, but I can smell it if I put my nose down the front of my t-shirt, for example) . . anyway, interesting to see how the smell builds up over a few days. ..
 
Not to get off topic but it would be nice to see more guys jump on the no deodorant bandwagon. I stopped using deodorant a long time ago simply because I like my natural scent. I'm usually about a 4-5 on the scale above. I don't think I have bad hygiene since I usually shower at least once a day and keep myself well groomed.
I think most guys have been brain washed into thinking that body odor is a bad thing due to the constant bombardment of advertising. I say open up your mind and go a few days or a week without using deodorant and see if you like it or not. I you do like it, kick the deodorant to the curb.
I have to admit that when I first stopped using it, I was a bit self conscious about what other people would think and if they could smell me or not. In time I became more comfortable with that and even started feeling proud of my own scent.
It would be nice to meet other guys that like body odor. Maybe we should start a "no deodorant movement". :-)
 
I think that I like for a guy to be in the 2-3 scent range. I like a musky scent. But, what I really like is a good masculine scent from a guy's foreskin - like after two days of not washing. Pissing through my foreskin produces the kind of scent I like.

It might depend upon what kind of mood I am in, generally a 5-6 would be good, if I feel dirty 8 or above.

I love the smell of foreskin, too. I once had a Canadian boyfriend who had the most spectacular arse smell: not foul at all, just highly aromatic - and dangerous to my sense of not losing my head and going completely animalistic.
 
7 to 9 for me, I find the smell of soap/perfume offputting, I beg guys not to have a shower. There's nothing better than a big lick of man smell from his groin/knees
