In this particular case, the script called for significant endowment (beyond that of even most porn stars). Presumably given the choice between having a well-known actor wearing a prosthetic and holding a casting call for large penises attached to competent actors, the filmmakers made the more practical choice. In general, instances of actors wearing prosthetics are rooted in this large penis requirement.
