I agree kibunoubu, there seems to be at least two scenes per week with Manuel released by different studios - and I certainly am not his biggest fan. I guess this also has to do partly with the current situation. As it seems, some studios are shooting under restrictions again, and definitely added covid-testing (or a negative result) to their STD-screening. That's why probably once cleared, you might want to take the opportunity and film more scenes with a model and push them out. Many porn actors live across the country and currently don't want to travel, though theoretically they could shoot again. Given the long and complicated process of flying, testing and potentially self-quarantine for 5-10 days just to shoot one scene and having a "regular" job, too, might be the reason why we see certain guys popping up more frequently now. I do understand that, safety first and personal decisions need to be accepted. As for Manuel, it might be he's living closer to the studios or has an easier and more flexible way of organizing the shootings. I don't know. But I see some other models who are more visible currently than others...still I agree that we definitely have some overexposure of certain men currently.
As for the scene I posted yesterday, for me it was actually more about Aiden's ass then for Manuel...

I agree (partly - and heavily on certain aspects). I have always been a fan of the what some might call "mainstream" gay porn full movies. I love high end productions, well shot and lit, and yeah, I also like some music with it. I started with movies from Titan, Colt, Kristen Bjorn...and yes it is sad that those studios have ceased to exist in their former way as they all had a special vibe to their productions. Naked Sword are still doing a great job and have been producing high end content for different tastes. And there are single-scene studios such as Helix, CockyBoys and
NextDoor, who actually do some really good work across different genres - especially NDS lately as they have moved towards the rougher and dirtier end of the spectrum as well. There are probably more examples that I cannot think of now, but I know about director Mr. Pam who had to stop filming a new porn flick in the Austrian alps due to covid - I am already curios how that will turn out as I love her work. So generally I wouldn't say porn is past it's prime, but has definitely changed.
What bothers me however are the following: predictability, fragmentation, bundling and the trend for home-made content.
I agree that porn has become predictable for either certain actors or studios. I miss the surprise effect to a certain extent - an actor doing what he had never done before, a sequence that is new terrain. Too many movies and scenes are too linear and predictable nowadays. This goes along with home-made content that naturally is restricted to where you film and what you have at hand - you don't have multiple cameras and sets. OnlyFans has created a trend in this, and I do like the approach for guys who are either not willing to get fully into the porn biz or want to produce extra-content outside of their porn-studio's or director's limits. It's just annoying that we see this "homemade" content form major studios as well, and that it is a quick and easy way for them to produce. I hope this is just a temporary thing due to covid. Yes, some actors go more for it than others, but I want to see it in unexpected moments. And though we have a subsegment for almost everything these days, sniffing is still a side-note.
