Merlin on NBC

Did anyone catch Mirlin on NBC Sunday night? I thought it seemed like a pretty good new series. The two main characters Merlin/King Arther aren't bad to look at either.:sex:

Re: Merlin on NBC

NBC (one of the American TV stations) purchased the rights to air it as a "summer series". Honestly, the only reason I caught it was for Anthony Head. It was ok programming but nothing spectacular.

Re: Merlin on NBC

Yea it was pretty good from what I saw. It is kind of a surprise TV movies get so little promotion nowadays.

Re: Merlin on NBC

Well I just watched episodes 3 & 4 tonight. While it’s nice to have a fantasy genre show on network television, the show is a bit to "family" for me, I would prefer it darker and a bit more consistent with the legends. I can only overlook the inconsistencies in this version to those legends so much. For example, to make Arthur & Merlin the same age is just ridiculous. And to top it off none of the characters ever break into song ;) . The special effects are actually better on ‘The Seeker’. The show wasn't a total waste, its got some nice humor and it has Anthony Head in the cast (always welcome) and some really nice musical scoring. And I certianly can't complain about the eye candy, the actors playing Merlin & Prince Arthur are both really cute (can only imagine the fanfic happening about these 2). I'll give it some more time put Ill have tongue firmly planted in cheek. Guess ill go back to reading my Marion Zimmer Bradley books and watching Monty Python and the Holy Grail for the 100th time.

Re: Merlin on NBC

Yea every episode is the same. "Merlin if you dont do (blank) Prince Arthur will die!" "You must save prince Arthur!"

Re: Merlin on NBC

By the way .. Season 2 just started :)

Re: Merlin on NBC

Ive been watching it. but it's just like the first season. There's a villain, merlin saves Arthur's life and Arthur is totally ungrateful and continues to treat Merlin like shit. Then Uthur and his "Magic is Bad" is just so tired.

Re: Merlin on NBC

I saw a preview trailer for the complete season, it seems as if those things *might* change a bit. Lancelot comes into play, Morgana develops a bit more .. we will see :)

Re: Merlin on NBC

The latest episode, shown in the UK on 31 October, was clear evidence that Arthur and Merlin are an item! They avoided a hug, but the sly dialogue and loving looks revealed all. Go for it, boys!

I couldn't find a thread for Merlin, so if I missed it forgive me for starting another. Just wondering if there are any other fans out there? I only recently became hooked on the series thanks to a friend, and I'm already lusting over Bradley James.

Well written and acted. The production has improved since moving on to the Sci-fy channel. One of the best things on TV. I am sure the audience is small, and that is a shame.

The Hotties are Prince Arthur and the reocurring role of Lancelot. Both are very hot. Given my choice, I take Lancelot.

I love the show, it has a lot of potential. My only critiques is it needs to develop a stronger plot line. There isn't any sort of plot going on except the fact that Uther hates magic. The show would do well to shake things up a bit. Hopefully the show moves on from the mini-episodic adventures into something more substantial.

As far as being accurate to legend? I could care less, the legend is fake anyway, all were manipulated and twisted from earlier stories over the centuries anyway. There are several different legends of Arthur dating back to early as the 8th and 12th century. The story has changed so much, I hardly think one can complain about it "sticking to legend."

As soon as I'm done with Season 2 of 'Sanctuary', 'Merlin' is next on my list.

Season 3 has started in the UK. The premiere is pretty exciting but it is a bit disappointing in some ways.

ooh can't wait to see it .. thanks for the reminder, almost forgot about it.

let me guess .. once again merlin is ALMOST ready to reveal himself but in the last moment something stops him from doing it ;)

Hopefully one certain female is gonna turn out to be the shit during season 3 (WONT mention any names) it is imo a spoiler for people outside the UK

Haha that's not it. it's not really a spoiler. It's just that Arthur and Merlin's relationship is kinda back at square one. Despite the enormous amount they have been through together Arthur still pretty much treats him like crap. It's like every relationship grows except theirs. Do people actually like when Arthur is mean to Merlin? I can't imagine they do.
