Any other metalheads in here?

I've been listening to metal since i was 11 or 12. I haven`t met any other gay guys who are really into metal as i am though. I have my straight friends who i still go to concerts with, but haven`t met gay buds that share the same kind of music.

To start off this thread, the first concert i saw was Metallica at age 13.. this tour..

I don't consider myself to be exactly a metalhead, though I kinda dress the part most of the times. I do like a lot of metal that's out there. I listen to a lot of genres but a LOT of rock and metal.
I went to see Guns N Roses and Sebastian Bach, from Skid Row, in October last year here in Lisbon. They fucking killed that shit! Both set that fucking stage on fire!

Sebastian Bach was insane!!! His voice hasn't aged at all almost! Amazing!
And Axl's voice was pretty impressive as well. More powerful live than I thought it'd be.

I would love to see Metallica live.

I went to a local, but growing on a national level, metal festival two weeks ago...but it was much heavier metal (black metal and such). There were a few awesome thrash metal bands that played. Overall, awesome festival!

I love the classics like Metallica, Megadeth, Pantera..

I too find it odd that there aren't many gay guys that listen to heavy metal.
Not having access to the internet as a kid, I had very few albums to listen to... But thanks to youtube I've broadened my musical taste considerably :)

Fags who love metal are okay in my book. ..|

I'm nowhere near a metalhead, but once in a while I'll listen to a little King Diamond. Been to a few shows, Sepultara, Pantera, Ozzy. Not much to offer but my endorsement....

i`m not very fond of 90`s or 00`s metal in North America. Europe on the other hand has been producing great bands recently..

The last show i went to see was Finntroll/Ensiferum in Montréal. That was a GREAT show. I still listen to a lot of 80`s and beginning of 90`s thrash, but the euro stuff is what i`m really into at the moment :)

While I enjoy metal I don't think I'd quite qualify as a "metalhead".

I'm mostly into symphonic, gothic and progressive metal. My favourite bands include After Forever, Within Temptation, Theatre of Tragedy, Nightwish, Epica, Lacuna Coil and Stolen Babies.

I am a Metalhead too. Favorite band is slayer, oops ssssslllaaayyyyeeeerrrr. There that's better.

nobody thinks its strange they steal the style from (gay) rob halford..... and havent changed for 15 years....

i'm a slayer fan anyway....
i once got beat up because i said metallica was going to do a cd with a symphonic orchestra.... 3 years later i was right....

WOOT Finntroll!!!. Anyhoo you gotta love a bit of Dimmu Borgir,Cradle of Filth, Gorgoroth, Eluveitie ect. I'm also partial to the symphonic metal scene like Leaves Eyes, Nightwish and Tristania. Tristania's song "A Sequel of Decay" is amazing. Metal FTW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You qualify - you listen to metal; just because it ins't thrash, death or straight up old school heavy doesn't mean it's not metal.

I agree. To some the label "metal" is some sacred assignation that only applies to heavy/death/black/doom metal. Some of which I do like to a certain extent (Theatre of Tragedy and WT both started out as doom/death, for example). In the end the word "metal" is just a label. Music is music and people like what they like. Some people just need to get of their high horse; the metal subgenre is just as diverse as rock or pop. Props to you for being cool rather than a judgmental dick (*8*)

But by my comment I mostly meant that I'm not an active participant in the "local metal community."

Not only that, but anyone who has seen Epica live know that`s it definitely qualifies as metal :band:

My bucket list used to include "seeing After Forever live" but now that they've disbanded I guess that seeing Epica live would be the next best alternative :D

Sometimes I wish I lived in Scandinavia since I don't think there are any local symphonic metal bands and we're always left out during tours. #-o - It's a good incentive for me to continue my studies somewhere in that area after my Bachelor's

I wish there were other gay metalheads in my are....I wana start an all gay metal band someday

Anyone into Tech Death like Necrophagist and Spawn of Possession??

^More into Spawn Of Possession than Necrophagist; to purists, this may be blaspheming against the gods... but I just plain like SoP better. It's like the Gothenburg scene, where I prefer Soilwork(first four albums) to At The Gates.

Yes, a metalhead am I. Though I'm mainly into death, grindcore, technical, thrash, hardcore(early generation) and melodeath, I keep my ears open for all sorts, from the jazz-influenced Atheist and Fuck The Facts, to prog-hinging Last Chance To Reason, power metal like Wolf(japanese band) and Iron Maiden, even doom like EARLY Cathedral and southern-hinged like High On Fire, Mastodon, Red Fang and Lamb Of God.

It doesn't have to put me into a moshpit for me to like it(Last Chance To Reason and Animals as Leaders are two such bands that I can justify sitting down and being amazed for), but it helps.

Anyone else here worship Glenn Danzig besides me??

I want to bring up that there is a gay metal forum. The LBGT metalhead community .
Its real slow now. Never super active but in the last several months the site changed losing most members. That sucks because they don't promote it enough. The new format needs some blood. They never sent anything telling the old members the page would be changed. It just disappeared. If you were a old member you had to dig to find if it was dead or not. Its not. Shit there are only 22 active members on it currently. Pitiful.

Its new home is

There are a lot of gay people into metal, but these guys need to market and I know that takes time. I think if I have the time I will see if I can maybe help them. I think a vid chat room based off the board on stickam would be great.

Trust me there are a lot of people out there, no not the Lady GA-GA amount but plenty I meet them all the time.

Come on join this forum and make it happen again. \m/
It is a cool place to meet other headbangers.

I could of sworn there was another metal thread here the other day.

And yes, i listen to heavy metal. Lately i've been listening to a lot of In Solitude, Ghost, and Blood Ceremony. Although the latter two you could consider more heavy rock. Though i enjoy many other more extreme sub genres of heavy metal.
