Methods on Organizing Porn Collection

Hi guys,

This is my first post here and very much new to this forum, although I created this account some time ago.
Anyway, I think most of us have some favorite porn collection.
But as the collection gets bigger, it tends to become a hassle to organize and very difficult to search the video you're looking for.

Almost three years ago, after failing to find anything useful to organize my porn collection in a meaningful way, I decided to create my own method to do so.
My method to organize porn was under constant change, and now it has come to settle down and has since been reliable.
Currently, I have 700++ videos in my collection and about 700 more videos on the waiting list for me to review and organize.
I actually considered it as one of my greatest achievement in recent years, and I really want to share it with the people who are as passionate about porn as I am.

Since it is gonna take quite long to type out all the procedure and such, I am here asking if people are actually interested in knowing such method.

I have my own method, tagging each video with both a descriptive acronym and/or color. It works pretty well.

The problem is that I don't like to look at porn unless I'm jerking off, and when I sit down to jerk off, the last thing I want to do is stop and label each video, so most of them are unlabeled.

What is your method?

I know where to find the favourites on the main sites and usually don't rewatch any...unless they are sizzling hot.

Hey guys, thanks for the kind response. I totally didnt expect to see quite a number of you keep a DVD, it's really great to hear that.
The porn collection that I'm talking about is digital, as that's what can become quite difficult to organize as your collection grows.

Since I'm new to this forum, I actually don't know where to post this kind of topic. Besides that, it will also take some time to write down all the detailed steps.
But to put it briefly, I will name my files in the following way:

[date_reviewed]-[studio_abbreviation]-[pornstar_name_1]-[pornstar_name_2]-....-(tag1-tag2-tag3-...)

For example, if a file is reviewed on 2021-12-24, from the studio Bel Ami, contained porn star JonKael's solo, who is quite muscular, has sizable areolas, and good tummy:

20211224-BAO-JonKael-(bulky-areola-tummy-solo)

Note: I keep two txt files, one being the three letters abbreviation of the studios, another being the definition of the tags, since without a reference, I can use two different tags that represent the same thing.

As another note, I have started to download all the good videos from PornHub, xhamster, xvideos, etc sites because many of the previously favorited videos are deleted.
Bookmarking videos also doesn't work since the videos more often than not will be deleted by w/e reason.
For those kind of videos, I always put the uploader's username, even if his videos are deleted in the future, just to give that person credit and for archive purposes.

I tossed all my VCR tapes a few years ago. There wasn't that many. About the same time I tossed some DVD's that I had that I didn't really care for even the first time viewing. I've decided the toss out the remaining dozen or so DVD's because I never view them anymore now have I have internet porn. I don't really want them laying around my place when I'm dead. I don't want my siblings to run across them. I also do not download (or pay for) internet porn.

I have ~200.000 pictures and ~7.000 videos on cheap external USB disks and on DVD.

To actually manage this [huge] collection, I just use the standard Windows features :

1) Open Windows Explorer, right-click any media file, picture or video > Properties > tab "Details".

2) There, you can assign any tag, description, comment, studio name, director or rating that you like.
Use tags such as "hunks", "twinks", "outdoor", "cumshot", "hairy", "sports", "athletic", "military", "cocks", "latinos", "69", "orgasm", "facial", "vintage", "flipflop", "trio", "group", "solo", "favourite", "blonds", "best"... Whatever !

3) To retrieve a certain file of which you vaguely remember it was a trio in the woods : in Windows Explorer > (top-right) Search box, type "tag:trio tag:utdoor".
If you remember a beautiful masturbation scene, type "tag:solo tag:cumshot".
If you remember an orgy in some locker room, type "tag:group tag:sports"
That's it !

Note : If you copy or move such media files to another folder or disk later on, your tags will be preserved.
