Have any of you taken methylene blue? I tried it for the first time earlier today: 2 mg (a relatively small dosage) in a solution of vitamin C to neutralize the color. Within minutes I experienced chills and shivering, which lasted for about 30 minutes, an unexpected reaction given the narratives and recommendations I had listened to from the "longevity" physicians on YouTube. Any thoughts?

The only use I know for methylene blue is as a detoxifying agent.

I have never heard of this. Why did you take this? What is it for?

This is the routine antidote for a severe poppers overdose. Anyone in a bad enough state to need this stuff is in a bad enough state to need medical help.
Listening to Nick Riviera on youtube is not really trustworthy medical advice.

It's used for certain conditions like cyanide poisoning and a condition called methemoglobinemia. Decades ago, it was used for urinary tract infections, much like arsenic was used for syphilis.

If you don't have these conditions, I wouldn't recommend it.

After reading the wiki and drugs.com links posted above......this explains a lot.

Any thoughts?
My first thought, don't be taking some substance, that you saw on an internet video. Second thought , if you think you want to try it, then check with your doctor to find out what the potential pitfalls are, as in if you take medications, will it have an adverse reaction or is the video quackery.

I thought it was a song by Keith Urban.

You might be thinking of this one?

It's always been my opinion that blue, is nobody's color.

So, what was your motivation to consume it? What results were you seeking?

Enhanced mitochondrial function:

"What Is the Function of the Mitochondria?

Mitochondria import thousands of proteins through two membranes to fulfill a variety of mitochondria functions, including, but not limited to:

  • Converting food into energy
  • Powering a cell’s molecule production
  • Managing cell death
  • Regulating aging"
