Re: Michael Jackson. This Is It!

Jasun, It just seems to me like you get a thrill off being controversial.

If you don't like something, why come in and start flaming the subject that other people DO like incessantly? It's just annoying and petty.

And I, honestly wasn't a fan of Invincible, and I wouldn't call it a failure. It still managed to sell pretty damn well, and it's going to sell even pretty damn well better now he's diead as well. But I think his old stuff was his best. But he was still a great man.

Kenny Loggins - This Is It!

I'm in between you two (and not in a good way), although I'm leaning more towards Jasun. The CD did in fact flop. They overpressed, and it simply didn't sell as well as they hoped. Michael Jackson even held a press conference in which he blamed Sony for not supporting the CD enough, and hinted that race was to blame. As if that weren't enough, he surround himself (as usual) with children who turned their big eyes up to the cameras on cue, holding up their "Sony, stop killing Michael" signs.

Seriously. Ugh.

Were there songs on the CD that people liked? Sure. But I can say that about CDs that sold five hundred copies, too.

Lex
I love his Invincible album. It didn't sell well, but the songs on there are really good IMO.

I personally love Butterflies. I think Invincible is an underrated album in my opinion.

Re: Michael Jackson. This Is It!

So.. you agree with me, you just think I'm an asshole for saying it.

Meh. I'll take that.
No, there are just nicer ways of saying things.
Unlike you I didn't go on to call him a paedophile, call his newer stuff shit and whatever else you banged on about.

Re: Michael Jackson--When Is This Shit Gonna End?!!!!

Is it just me or is anyone else sick of the Michael Jackson ''news'' marathon?

I can't even turn on the news anymore because it's all M.J. all the time. I can't take anymore of it.Enough already!!Just bury the fucking guy and lets get on with life .

Listen, I know he was a groundbreaking artist and all that, and I really have no strong feelings for him one way or the other, but c'mon already. At this rate, I expect to see ''breaking coverage'' of his last bowel movement..

For what seems like months now, it's been on day and night. You'd think that nothing else in the world is going on.Outside of a brief mention,I really don't think this has much place on what's supposed to be the news..

I know the ''news'' industry in this country long ago abandoned any pretense of actually bringing us real news , but this just proves they no longer have any credibility..

What a joke.

This shit always happens during a major death. It is absolutely non-stop 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

And I will say this much. My TV has been off and it will stay off from all news/entertainment programs until this marathon has passed.

Re: Michael Jackson--When Is This Shit Gonna End?!!!!

I blame his family for allowing the funeral to turn into such a mockery. Holding a lottery for tickets? WTF? Why couldn't his family just insist on a private funeral only? If MJ were still alive. . . wait. . . I'm sure he would approve. It's the ultimate in postmortem narcissism.

Re: Michael Jackson--When Is This Shit Gonna End?!!!!

Good Night and Have a Pleasant Tomorrow.

Thanks for posting the video. I had a feeling no one would remember that running gag on SNL!

Re: Michael Jackson--When Is This Shit Gonna End?!!!!

Will this media circus finally start to move on, once MJ has been buried (or his ashes given to the family in an urn, or whatever the final arrangements are)?

John Lennon certainly didn't get this kind of coverage.

Meanwhile, for good parts of the day, and especially true on weekends, you can often tune in to CNN, Headline News, and MSNBC - and see no news whatsoever. This is also mostly true in the evenings.

No wonder Fox News gets ratings...they actually spend a fair portion of their schedule with news programs.

MSNBC still spent most of the weekend carrying all that crime and prison sludge...

Re: Michael Jackson--When Is This Shit Gonna End?!!!!

^ Naw. Michael Jackson is not really dead you know. He faked his death and now he's hiding out with Elvis. Didn't he say he would go just like Elvis?

Re: Michael Jackson--When Is This Shit Gonna End?!!!!

You have to understand that Jackson has been an icon for more than 40 years. It's expected that the press coverage will play out for a few months. The kind of stardom he achieved is difficult to even imagine in this day when the pop musci industry has lost so much influence to other entertaiment options.

Re: Michael Jackson--When Is This Shit Gonna End?!!!!

i think it speaks more about the dumbing down of america than about michael jackson himself ...

collectively we have become morons and the media caters to the majority of the buying public's taste....

if people simply voted with their remote and turned the shit OFF, it wouldn't sell and therefore wouldn't be there...

so whom do we really blame? .... just us ... sad, i know, but it's all about us ... not michael, really

Re: Michael Jackson--When Is This Shit Gonna End?!!!!

Who died? ......

Re: Michael Jackson--When Is This Shit Gonna End?!!!!

The Media just needs to feel like they are doing their job!

Re: Michael Jackson--When Is This Shit Gonna End?!!!!

So glad you said it Google! :-)

That's all the support staff can talk about--MJ's kids, are they his or not? Where is Bubbles now? Was he murdered or did he die of a drug overdose? Who will inherit his estate? What happened w/ the alleged molestation? And on and on and on and on it goes.

They kept asking for my opinion and I admitted that unless MJ's estate has filed some sort of case in our crt, that I couldn't care less about it. You'd have thought I summoned forth a dog w/ three heads that reeked of rotten eggs from the looks of their faces.

I've since learned just to smile and nod, smile and nod. It helps if you mention those poor children too.

Re: Michael Jackson--When Is This Shit Gonna End?!!!!

Hate him or love him he was possibly the biggest influence on mainstream pop music. His death is a big deal regardless of what people think about him as a person.

He influenced Pop music? Great! Congrats to him. Can we get him in the ground already? It didn't take this long to bury Pope John Paul or Ronald Reagan.

Around the same time as the hype and conspiracy around Princess Diana's death and the 9/11 attacks does.

Re: Michael Jackson--When Is This Shit Gonna End?!!!!

I find American reaction to his death somewhat hypocritical, frankly. America is the one country that truly abandoned him after all the allegations started to emerge. Other countries stuck by him but in America he became a pitiful joke who could no longer sell records. He was shunned.

Now look. He's being paraded as a Godlike figure. Where were all these stars when he needed public support? Now they wanna jump on his death bandwagon and get some free publicity?

Truth is, America didn't give a fuck about him anymore and probably never would have in the future. So he will not really be missed in his home country because I dont think Americans felt he had anything else to offer. Apart from bizarre news stories, of course.
