Michele Bachmann kicks off campaign with idiotic gaffe!

Sorry but she's demonstrated herself to be an idiot on so many occasions that calling her that is no longer a personal attack, it's a perceptive description.

Case in point. This one really makes me chuckle!
2003: Bachmann, then a state senator, explains why she doesn't agree with the theory of evolution: "Where do we say that a cell became a blade of grass, which became a starfish, which became a cat, which became a donkey, which became a human being? There’s a real lack of evidence from change from actual species to a different type of species. That's where it's difficult to prove." Don't even get her started on how a bill becomes a law.

I thought at first that we were being called 'MORMONS'

You're talking about Michele Bachmann right?

Love to see Chance try to pedal backwards though.

Chance1 is still riding the same bike that he always has, unless he's upgraded and hasn't shared that with us.

But that last time that I checked his bike still pedals forward. ..|

And unlike some of the other blathering Republican Talking Point / Ayn Rand "conservatives" who've been known to troll this forum, Chance1 isn't one of them. [-X

And if you saw my asking him to clarify or expand on his position as his back peddling then you haven't been paying attention to who posts what. ;)

I'm just saying. (*8*)

If you choose to be a fool, have at it. That's your choice.
I've been reading up on her - old articles and interviews. She is despicable and deranged. Do your homework.
It's a shame to call someone else a "moron" when you behave like one yourself.

slam a diddle, crash

But you're forgetting that she's speaking to those who's public education has been eviscerated by the Republican Agenda to "dumb down" America, so a lot of what she's saying actually makes sense to a lot of people.

So think about that the next time that someone wants to laugh out-loud about how "stoopid" she sounds.

Of course the "right-wing" ever the victim, will complain that 'If only we got to teach Creationism, in public schools....or even Intelligent Design then what she said would have made more sense.'

So either way it's our fault that she's is who she is, and why so many want to support her.

Bachmann is the Turd in the punch bowl of american politics.

Lets have a video stroll down memory lane....

Nope....more a case of watching him try to make nice and flip flopping on his support for her...now saying she needs to be exposed for her positions....which is exactly what people have done here thread after thread after thread while he defends her and calls other Morons.

"morons" as in frothing about her - Challenge and rebut her ideas "morons" as in frothing about her - Challenge and rebut her ideas

But even more interesting is Chance trying to make Moron mean something other than the actual meaning of :

1
usually offensive : a person affected with mild mental retardation
2
: a very stupid person
— mo·ron·ic mə-ˈrä-nik, mȯ- adjective
— mo·ron·i·cal·ly -ni-k(ə-)lē adverb
— mo·ron·ism ˈmȯr-ˌä-ˌni-zəm noun
— mo·ron·i·ty mə-ˈrä-nə-tē, mȯ- noun

Frothing about her is actually referred to as Santorum-izing.

So yeah...I saw it as back-pedalling.

That's fair in my opinion.

I just saw it as an opportunity to allow him to clarify his position, which few opportunities have presented themselves in the past, and he did.

You see it as back pedaling, I see it as asking for more, and he delivered.

There's a difference between trying to shut someone down because one doesn't like how the other person communicates, as opposed to trying to shut someone down because they have nothing to say because they're just parroting, trolling, or being a "sock puppet" for an opposing view...|

Please take it from me, that's not the case in this discussion here. [-X

Phew.

All three of us emerge unscathed to jello wrestle again in the future.

My favourite is Tomato Aspic by the way.

It's all about the "sympathy" vote.

If Michele Bachmann is viewed as being attacked for her religious views, or her apparent moronic/retarded view of articulating something that her supporters understand, while her detractors want to take her down for it, just gives her that much more support.

I'd rather be having a discussion here, and with my friends and neighbors about what she's really saying, and why the woman is dangerous than making fun of her. Rather than worrying about how one poster on an internet forum appears to be waffling.

Seriously. ..|

I found an article at Alternet that mentions 32 of these "mistakes" she makes. But since the article started at Mother Jones I will post it.

Michele Bachmann Said What!?
Tom Wallace/ZUMA Press

Your guide to the Minnesota firebrand's most outrageous, outlandish, and out-there remarks.

— By Tim Murphy

Mon Jun. 6, 2011 3:00 AM PDT

EDITOR'S NOTE: Over the weekend, Fox News' Chris Wallace asked Michele Bachmann if she was a flake. Below is a compendium of some of her more outlandish remarks. Judge for yourself.

Sometime this month, Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) is expected to travel to Waterloo, Iowa to officially announce her presidential candidacy. Her odds, while firmly in Hail Mary territory, are still better than you might think: With Republicans less than thrilled with the primary field, Bachmann stands at least a fighter's chance in socially conservative states like Iowa and South Carolina.

Now in just her third term in Congress, Bachmann, the leader of the House tea party caucus, has earned a reputation as one of the lower chamber's leading bomb-throwers, lobbing overheated rhetoric at Democrats and needling establishment Republicans. Her Minnesota colleague, Democratic Rep. Keith Ellison once accused her of "psycho talk"; in an interview with Politico, a Pawlenty aide was just as blunt: "She's a real pain in the ass." Former state senator Dean Johnson, who was the Republican minority leader during Bachmann's stint in St. Paul, has said, "I don't think I ever served with anybody who I mistrusted more, from either side of the aisle."

Now, if anyone wants to compare articles here is Alternets link.

She misses sleeping through Latin Mass. I understand completely Kulindahr. She could just go to a non-English mass and sleep through that instead. Same effect.

My mom's friend? I doubt she slept through the Latin Mass -- she seems to have it memorized.

She apparently has a priest who verges on idolatry in America-worship, who laments there aren't any "true Catholics" running for office, but points toward about anything that hates gays and liberals.

She attacks our community constantly.

Why should we not return the volleys?

I'd appreciate a kibosh on the name-calling, chance.

What IS your position, anyway? Beyond apologizing for our enemies, that is.

OMG you said "kibosh"!

Did you find that in the rare word bin, with "ilk"?

And I'll take that a step further, and say that we should look at who's financing her campaigns, and how's she's been able to get as far as she has in such a short political time span. ..|

Wall Street is, as well as a large following of small donors via the internet of $10, $25, $50, etc...

As per the first link I posted above, she went to all fringe christian colleges. She got her law degree from O.W. Coburn School of Law (formerly Tulsa, OK) which was an Oral Robert's "university", and today renamed as Regent's "Skool" of Law (Pat Robertson's). This is "the tiny educational outhouse that, despite being the 136th-ranked law (out of 156 total) school in the country, where 60 percent of graduates flunked the bar, produced a flood of entrants into the Bush Justice Department."

Regent starts their law students out with a course titled: LAW 511 Christian Foundations of Law, for which every other course, teachings, or merits build on. Regent strongly encourages its graduates to enter government to become "change agents" who would help bring the law more in line with "eternal principles of justice,", which is code for biblical morality.

This week Fortune magazine ran an article titled: Bachmann vs. Romney: Who loves Wall St. more? Here's a quick recap of her "achievements":

Fair Use Excerpt said:
Bachmann's congressional record shows she will aggressively sponsor bills to appease the rules-only-slow-us-down contingent -- even if there's no chance they'll make it out of committee.

According to Govtrack.us, a nonpartisan congressional research tool for the public, none of Bachmann's 38 sponsored bills have made it out of committee. One of her most recent sponsored bills was a straight pitch to Wall Street -- H.R. 87: To Repeal the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act. The bill is currently with the House Subcommittee on Commerce, Manufacturing, and Trade.

^ to the less than rareboy

in the Orlando airport - quite the scene :)

I have never "supported" Bachman
Never

Show me how I have
You can't cause I didn't

I just don't like calling her a cunt like you do

Calling someone a cunt shows how little imagination u truly have

Just saying

But you're forgetting that she's speaking to those who's public education has been eviscerated by the Republican Agenda to "dumb down" America, so a lot of what she's saying actually makes sense to a lot of people.

Amen!

Michelle Bachmann home skools her children, and has a history much like Palin of trying to force religion and the bible into public education. When her involvement and machinations were challenged by parents, Michelle like all good "conservatives" took her ball and went home, by saying "screw public education", and thus her home skooled mantra took over.

I have seen her run her campaigns, and she is formidable. When millions of $$$ poured in for her House opponent, Fox News played the When Liberal Attack™ card, and a corresponding wave of cash washed up into her campaign. Given the economic climate of the US, there is a populist anger out there, and she can and will tap into that. Independents and Democrats who don't pay attention to politics much, could easily get swept up into her schtick.

After GW Bush was nominated and elected, not once, but twice, I no longer underestimate the ignorance of the average American voter. They are ignorant, and willfully so. The average independent voter who is undecided makes up their mind after just several minutes of total exposure to a candidate, much of which could come from campaign commercials either for or against. Additionally, the use of "the worm" in various TV outlet's coverage influences and changes people's perception and ability to understand what is being said. Independent thought is co-opted.

There will be more than a few Republicans or anti-Obama people out there that would vote for Michelle simply thinking that, "Obama might be able to be beaten by a woman so I'm going to vote for her". Attacking her as "stoopid" over and over again will anger clueless people of why, much like Palin.

As if on cue, Fox News' Chris Wallace executed the political stagecraft Fox is infamous for with his question; "the rap on you here in Washington..... are you a flake", for which then was roundly criticized by fellow News Corp. minions from Fox, Wall Street Journal, NY Post, FN, et al; thereby "forcing" Wallace to apologize to Bachmann, which again was carried far and wide by the News Corp. media. It would be brilliant save for its utter transparency, but sadly the average Republican or independent won't see thru it. Thus the sand in the oyster; the misogynistic media who question her or challenge her facts, become sage-like pearls of wisdom to naive voters.

Now, a question I've been pondering; why exactly would Bachmann try to illicit connection to and with John Wayne the actor??? I mean the guy was a draft-dodging, womanizing, alcoholic, who's wife would beat the shit out of him when he was falling down drunk.

Seriously? Or does she just admire that although John Wayne was an utter fraud he was a "tough guy" on screen just like she is.... all bark, no bite.
