Michele Bachmann kicks off campaign with idiotic gaffe!

Why is gender a factor?

Because if she has an opponent critical of her, if it crosses an imaginary line in voter's mind, then she will get the sympathy vote, and the man will be thought of as a pig.

She gets to play the "mommy" card which American's lap up, even though shunting 9 lb. screaming turds out of her cooter means diddly squat and requires absolutely zero "talent" or when it comes to running the country. That's why Repugnuts play the card as often as the "God fearin' xtian" card.

Michele Bachmann is todays version of Jim Jones.

I think she's smart - much smarter than Palin

A third grader is smarter than Palin.

But you'd have to be a moron to vote for them for prez or to put them on the ticket as VP.

The rednecks and old white guys who are used to wearing the pants in their households. The womans place is in the home and pushing out babies. "Woman where's my dinner? Now get in the house make my dinner bitch".......... That attitude is very alive and well. I see in much more regularly when dealing with old retired coots who are glued to Fox news all day compared to attacks on blacks or even gays. Though all are a equal oppurtunity for the redeck, white trash, and old white conservative voter in genral who favor the tea bagging of America.

...They will have many thoughts about not "pulling the lever" if such a time came when a woman was actually running for the President. I think we forget that. It is not only a black man that scares them but in their minds there is no way a woman can have that job,...just no fucking way!

The Republicans up on the ladder know that right now no matter how special she is a year before the election.

Chance knows what I am talking about with the special way he puts woman in a dog eat dog competitive place in a different catagory then what he allows a man to be called out for. Well so do the rednecks only in their view that bitch better get down on her knees and rub his feet.... after all thats why he is the man in the household.

Archie Bunker was defeated by Edith in brain power but that NY mindset is so entrenched all over the hot demographic of the Republican party,....... no "chance" for a republican woman running for President in 2012 until more old fucks die off.

Two factors working in this discussion.

1 -- the belief by the liberal that no one is smarter than he and that anyone who doesn't agree with his beliefs is stupid

2 -- hatred of women

Has Alternet posted all the "mistakes" made by Obama? I know the answer to that without getting your response.

I'm not a Bachmann fan but you gotta be a little fair.

Who do you like? We here at JUB all understand what and who you conservative gays are against. But frankly, we are really clueless what you are for and who you think would achieve it. Would you care to tell us?

Many times the question has been posed on this board asking for your views, why you support Republicans, etc. Always, we are met with the chirping of crickets.

This is about the stupidest thing that I ever seen posted in this forum.

^ Link added for emphasis. ;)

She's a communist infiltrating the church to lead people to socialism?

No. [-X

More like a corporate spokesperson advocating all things "American," like Kool-Aid, which is now owned by Kraft Foods, and now Hecho in Mexico. ..|

Next time you're in the store, grab a packet and read the back. ;)

I'm just saying. :p

More like a polar opposite of Jones, who preached against corporations -- and who got into religion for the money.

From her bio, I'd say she got religion, found it not enough of a trip, got into politics for the power, and rejoiced in the corporate money because it "means" God "approves" of her.

Jim Jones? Kool-Aid?

Christianity? Republican Politics?

Same difference. ;)

Now, we're too busy worrying about Anthony Weiner's junk, the Casey Anthony trial or the latest contestants on American Idol. This country is turning into an intellectual cesspool and I suspect that the willing participants couldn't be more pleased. *|*

Oh please. No country has ever been populated solely or even with a majority of well educated, erudite, involved, philanthropic hoards of liberal minded appreciators of high culture. No country. Ever. these people are always in the minority. Always.

From Roman gore to American politics, the lurid, shameless, provocative, and the vulgar have always been popular. Always. Why, because it's accessible and titillating, and most people have no interest in sitting around contemplating Plutarch for any reason whatsoever. You can look down your nose at them, but don't try and pretend that this was ever any different.

Some American electoral history (not that I would ever defend Jackson, mind)

But even among a long history of dirty campaigning, the Campaign of 1828 stood out as the worst. Attacks on Jackson were unparalleled in American political history. His opponents accused him of murder, gambling, slave trading and treason. They called him a 'military chieftain,' and said his mother was a prostitute, his father a mulatto man, and his wife a bigamist. "Mrs. Jackson once found her husband in tears pointing to a paragraph reflecting on his mother and said, 'Myself I can defend; you I can defend; but now they have assailed even the memory of my mother."

Today, June 29, 2011 that would be pointed out as a brilliant campaign strategy...to get your opponent elected! ..|

It worked in 1828, and I'm sure that's why Obama is a shoe in for POTUS 2012.

That's why the strategy seems to be, "dial it back a bit" on the personal attacks against Bachmann and the Republican POTUS Primary nominees.

They'll do themselves in, they don't need our help. [-X

If you are familiar with the poetry of Edgar Allan Poe*, you wouldn't give it a second thought. Don't get me started here, but it has become a badge of honor to NOT know something/anything in our society.

Until fairly recently, there was a body of knowledge - a common cultural thread that united us as a society. There are some elitist universities which still have a College of Arts and Letters cultivating the beginnings of a well-rounded education. Higher education now has morphed into a somewhat sophisticated trade school - whose only function is to make more money.

Now, we're too busy worrying about Anthony Weiner's junk, the Casey Anthony trial or the latest contestants on American Idol. This country is turning into an intellectual cesspool and I suspect that the willing participants couldn't be more pleased. *|*

*The Bells - if anyone is interested.

I've read all his books but never got into poetry. That's amazing, you learn something every day!

Her entrance into the political mess didn't make points with Factcheck. A good read, and I'm not really hitting on her mistakes. This is the official Factcheck. This is something that I hope gets out to all the people planning on voting.

Bachmann’s Waterloo
The GOP lawmaker's presidential campaign starts with a slew of off-base claims.

June 28, 2011

Summary

Rep. Michele Bachmann officially joined the presidential campaign trail, but made a flurry of false and misleading claims along the way.

The Minnesota Republican appeared on two Sunday talk shows the day before giving her formal announcement speech in Waterloo, Iowa. On the shows, she made false statements about income from her family farm and government subsidies to her husband's business. She also made misstatements regarding earmarks, federal pay, government-owned "limousines" and health care:
