My parents were immigrants and voted Conservative. They owned their own business, and naturalised becoming citizens after a period of time. I don't see how being an immigrant automatically predisposes you to voting for left wing politics.

There has not been a democrat mayor of Chicago since the 30s. The democrat machine controls the elections. That is the democrat version of democracy and it is our future. Mexico and Russia also go through the motions, with one party in actual power. Are there any Hispanic countries with stable democracies? Are there any which do not have great masses of very poor people?
