Conventional computer chips use the flow of electrons through tiny circuits to process data.

Microsoft's Majorana1 utilizes a new state of matter on the sub-atomic scale. After that, I'm lost.

Today, we are one step closer to an actual quantum computer - one breakthrough at a time.

Wow. In five years, crops like wheat, soy, rice, coffee and chocolate will become increasingly difficult to grow but tell me more about your shiny supercomputer that can predict future Super Bowl scores in half the time.

After several videos about this new chip, I'm still clueless about what a completed quantum computer will be used for.
Can a quantum computer in the kitchen heat the water in a kettle sitting on the counter?

Will quantum computing enable robot gambling?

Listening to everybody's phone calls and reading everybody's messages is terribly resource intensive so only the selected few can enjoy being totaly surveiled. The massive boost in computing power promised by this new technology will allow everyone to reap the benefits of being spied on everywhere, all the time. We are so lucky to live in this gilded era.

^It's been suggested that there may be databases full of data that is just waiting for a day when technology advances enough to make it possible and practical to go through that data.

And it's not just more powerful hardware that is a worry for me. I'm concerned with the rise of AI and how it will soon be a standard feature on all commercial systems. It's been poinbted out that an AI asisstant that knows you intimately could be used to help outside parties spy very simply by asking the AI if the user shows any interest in ______ .

Omg - my personal A.I. assistant becomes a snitch - blabbing all my info worldwide, while smiling in my face! 😲

Other quantum chips are prone to errors and have control issues. Microsoft says their Majorana 1 is less error prone.

It is reassuring to know that chips which may be making life or death decisions are prone to errors and have control issues.
Makes them sound more human.
