Microsoft needs to DIE

The Xboxes kill themselves after about a year so I wouldn't worry.
All of the current generation gaming machines actually will be around for at least 2 more years. Says the big 3. They are trying to milk the current gen for all it's worth.

So really, if you want to buy a gaming machine, get it now so you won't feel shafted two years later when they release the next gen consoles.

lol Apple fanboys.

Well there is the Zune, which is superior to Apple's iPod interface, pre-Touch. And tuesday, there will be the Zune HD which is superior to the Touch if you don't have apps. BUT OH WAIT! There will be an apps store on the device, and it is still more powerful then the iPod Touches that came out this week.

Then there is Windows 7, which is just amazing, hands down. No one has been able to say anything seriously bad about it. Apple tried to slam it at WWDC or some jankum event, but they failed.

Then there is MS Office which no one actually complains about, except for the price blah blah. It is still the most powerful office suite out there. It does things nothing else can.

Then there is the Xbox and Xbox 360 with their plethora of games.

etc etc

The Zune must be so good, which must be why they aren't selling it outside of the US. Because if you have a product as good as the Zune you just don't sell it worldwide do you? :)

Yes 7 is OK. But it is what Vista should have been. They royally fucked Vista up and only now making it right. Imagine what the OS would be like if Vista actually worked and they could build upon it instead of re-doing it?

I have to say Outlook 2007 is a pile of crap. All it seems to do well is crash. You click something before it has finished doing something, and... crash. It's like a magic trick, crash Outlook in 1 click.

That's not what I was saying... I was saying that the Xboxes break after about a year. Which they do - my brother's had 3.

I agree with the OP - I've never used anything by Microsoft which didn't seem to have some major flaw. Their software is bloated to a ludicrous extent, and their operating systems could only be praised by people with not much experience in anything else.

I've been a happy linux user for about 15 years now - way before it was popular - and although linux has its faults, and plenty of them, for me they are all faults I can live with, whereas after a day with MS I'm almost homicidal with rage and fury.

I wonder what it is he does to the Xboxes to break them. #-o

Does he perhaps have an anger management problem. :^o

The major flaws must be the reason that Microsoft sells hundreds of millions of copies of their products and nobody buys linux products or depends on them for their day to day needs.

Just a thought!;)

This should be moved to the tech forum where all the apple fanboy rants belong

this is the reason the tech forum is dead and every post is on apple

Apple Fanboys need to die the

only reason this has been posted here is cause they have ran everyone out of the tech forum and now cant spout there crap at anyone

move it to tech now

I love my XBox, so many good games I wouldn't have gotten to play with out it.

Like what, Halo?

You don't believe me?

He plays them, they overheat and he gets the red ring of death.
He fears that his Elite is about to break now as, when he turns it on, it makes a horrible rattling sound.

No? This just shows ignorance. XBLA has quite a few great games on it.

Actually it just shows how one game can be so over-hyped that it can shift thousands of consoles, that's all.

I think you're right btw. Arcade games are good. I've got quite a few from the PSN that are really good!

Well How is 7? I might buy the upgrade on opening day. I hope it will keep my programs and files if I can upgrade without having to format the hard drive.

Windows 7 will allow you to run XP as a choice which is one of the more stable ones. If 7 gives you problems, then you have a choice. If vista gives you problems, you have no choice.

Not really. iPhone still isn't in every country it could be, and it took them several years to roll it out. Same with the iPod line. Companies have to deal with all types of regulations for their devices and the music stores that accompany the devices. You don't just, start selling stuff in other countries at your convience.

And as the Zune wasn't majorly successful, why go through all the pain and pay all that money to get them into these countries? Of course if Zune HD does well (and it will) then they will enter countries.

Yes 7 is OK. But it is what Vista should have been. They royally fucked Vista up and only now making it right. Imagine what the OS would be like if Vista actually worked and they could build upon it instead of re-doing it?
To be honest, not really. MS and Apple don't make drivers, the other companies do, and if a device isn't compatible with a OS, it is the manufacturers fault, not the developers.

Now if you had a powerful enough comp, Vista is fine. It runs like a dream, and you have little to no problems. I haven't, but I am in Win7 now, and it runs better than a dream.

I have to say Outlook 2007 is a pile of crap. All it seems to do well is crash. You click something before it has finished doing something, and... crash. It's like a magic trick, crash Outlook in 1 click.
Why are you using it then? There are other, better alternatives. Mozilla has thunderbird if you don't want to use a web based solution (like Gmail)

But hey, people don't remember that Apple royally screwed up Me (or whatever it's called) and didn't get it working after a year of trying. I guess it is fixed now.

Oh, true. But getting a new one is free if you manage the wait. MS has it down to a science now. Although it is sad that it is so well down.

Apparently the new ones don't crash as much, but who knows? Luckily I'm not a gamer.

lol Linux still isn't popular. So your still "hip and ahead of the curve!"

Ok - I had it moved because it is a tech topic. You are wrong about the tech forum. There are lots of other topics covered - it's not just a debate about Apple vs. Microsoft. I posted it in Hot topics in error. So - don't jump to conclusions so fast. :-)
But yeah the debate so far only re-inforces my opinion that Microsuck will indeed die albeit a slow and prolonged death. Terminal lack of innovation in all their product releases...that's them...
lol Apple still has less than 10% with their now craptastic computers.

They are about to get hit on all sides by smart phones that are just as good as the iPhone, OS made by Google.

MS is about to put out a PMP device that a lot of tech journalist consider better than the Touch if it has a app store to match (gotta have the apps store though)

Windows 7 is so good and getting so much praise, that the rush to Apple will stymie to a point that isn't good for Apple. Especially seeing how much they charge for shit, and this economy.

People love the Xbox and the games. They aren't even crazily annoyed that it crashes so frequently.

Not to mention Steve Jobs is close to retirement. Especially with his health, and just seems to have lost a little of the spark that makes him so great.

When Steve Jobs left for those few months, Apple lost a little of the suave and sophistication that created the reality distortion field around them.

My first Xbox 360 'survived' 3 years and 3 months. A friend of mine brought Halo 3 with him because he couldn't live without it. I don't like Halo and neither did my Xbox when he put it in it. After loading the game it got RRoD. I laughted realy hard when it happened. But than I realized that it was a day for Christmas.

I'm realy happy now because my new one makes less noice. My Laptop makes more 'noice' now.

Yeah, apparently the new Arcade Xbox's or whatever they are (not a gamer) are much more silent than the old ones.

And the podcast I was listening to was saying don't put your old power cord in the new Xbox (why would you anyway?) or it could RRoD. But apparently, he put the new one back on and it fixed the RRoD.

I didn't got a new power cord and everythings fine. I do know that the boyfriend of my (girl) classmate own his 27th Xbox already. His Xbox is almost 24/7 on even when he's not at home. He admitted that he's addicted but doesn't want to change it until life forces him. My classmate doesn't mind it, she's happy with him and all his gaming friends who come often at there home.

The drivers only partly fucked Vista up. Apple seem to manage if you are going to pass 100% of the blame to the manufacturers. Vista may work fine on a high spec machine but 7 (Being the new operating system) works on lower end hardware. Vista really should have done that. 7 really is a working version of Vista.

I use a mixture of programs, Exchange + CRM obviously has to run on Outlook in Windows. Although Mail for Mac seems to handle Exchange better. Outlook IMAP handling is shocking too.

And about service packs, OS X updates are so much more than service packs. Have you ever read the new feature information? An MS service pack is basically just fixes and patches. An OS X update is improvements. When was the last time a service pack completely moved Windows to 64 bit?

I don't know, a while ago I was considering getting an xbox, I only didn't because of how many my brother had been through and because you have to pay to go online.

And after seeing that my brother has turned into antisocial (because I'm sorry but when your only social interaction comes from people on the internet you are antisocial) lazy git who sits on his xbox 24/7 then you sort of start to hate it.

I'm not really fussed about this Apple/Microsoft war though. Nor am I fussed about the Nintendo/Sony/Microsoft war either.
