Microsoft needs to DIE

The drivers only partly fucked Vista up. Apple seem to manage if you are going to pass 100% of the blame to the manufacturers. Vista may work fine on a high spec machine but 7 (Being the new operating system) works on lower end hardware. Vista really should have done that. 7 really is a working version of Vista.
Vista should have been, but it wasn't. They made it too big. Apple has the luxury of having a small consumer base, so they can force consumers to a new version with little to no legacy code and not suffer. Because MS has to cater to businesses, they have to make sure they new versions of OS's are compatible as businesses and schools move slowly on upgrading their stuff.

But what they did with Win7 is virtualize the legacy stuff. If someone has a program that needs XP to work, then there is a XP mode that they can launch, and presto, use you ancient software. It definitely lightened the OS a lot and made it a lot more fluid.
I use a mixture of programs, Exchange + CRM obviously has to run on Outlook in Windows. Although Mail for Mac seems to handle Exchange better. Outlook IMAP handling is shocking too.
I think Mail does actually run Exchange better, but who knows? I don't really use Exchange or need it yet. That's some IT shit I don't care about llol

And about service packs, OS X updates are so much more than service packs. Have you ever read the new feature information? An MS service pack is basically just fixes and patches. An OS X update is improvements. When was the last time a service pack completely moved Windows to 64 bit?
That's true, the latest updates to OS X are usually more, but Snow Leopard wasn't. It was mostly fixes and patches, performance tweaks and they installed a malware scanner on the comp (the dawn of Mac viruses must be imminent if Apple is taking that step) and small, new features. Essentially what a Windows Service Pack is. I would say the main reason it was only $30 is because even they couldn't justify $150 for a glorified service pack.

When people ugraded to Leopard, that was a major major change and worth all the money.

I don't know, a while ago I was considering getting an xbox, I only didn't because of how many my brother had been through and because you have to pay to go online.

And after seeing that my brother has turned into antisocial (because I'm sorry but when your only social interaction comes from people on the internet you are antisocial) lazy git who sits on his xbox 24/7 then you sort of start to hate it.

I'm not really fussed about this Apple/Microsoft war though. Nor am I fussed about the Nintendo/Sony/Microsoft war either.
lol that's what gaming consoles do to ya. that's why I am not a serious gamer. it would scare me to detach from society THAT much.

there was some guy in korea who died from hunger and dehydration because he didn't move from his game in like or week or so to eat or drink anything.

I spend a fair amount of times playing video games - but I read and watch movies... oh! And write! And I work and spend a good amount of time socialising.

That thing about the guy in Korea is scary though. My brother, thankfully, eats however. It annoys me though, he gets off his xbox goes down the stairs comes back up with his dinner and eats it whilst playing. It pisses me off because think of all the things he could actually be doing with his time!

Frank, can't OpenOffice Save As a PDF?
f they come as something I can't open, I email back and ask for the documents to be sent as a PDF.

The problem with .PDF is that the format is a BITCH to edit. I am continually editing my documents...and, at least from my experience, I tend to find reading .PDF documents to be rather unpleasant...

i hate reading .PDF's as well. they way they want you to navigate a page always annoys me.

ROFL....ok yeah Vista I think will retain the dubious honor of being the worst OS ever (even worse than ME)

NOTHING is worse than ME you take that back right this second! I am appalled by such a statement, ME is the worst, unstable operating system ever, EVER! it had problems with itself resulting in massive explosions of everyone who owned it!

Sorry for joining this conversation late but Microsoft does have major flaws but you gotta live with it. I'm not sure that Apple is that much better because I dont have a mac and none of the people I'm friends with do either, so i see that as a flaw because Microsoft is basically in every home. Sure everyone has an iPod, but the Nano is so sleek and its not a bad price for the amount of songs it can hold. I only just got my first iPod and it works well so far but i also own a 360 and I was mad when I got the "red ring of death" but life goes on and the quality of games for it are unmatched by any of its competitors. I don't like to put these two companies head to head because they always seem to be going in a different direction or coming from a different point of view than the other. I hope Apple's popularity forces microsoft to make its products easier to use and of better quality.

P.S. ME was completely dreadful

Hi, my name is Yooper and I'm a Mac User.

All of my Computers have been Macs, starting with a very used Power Mac 6116CD.

I've had to share with my UNBELIEVABLY inept partner, who somehow manages to mess up the TV Remote almost daily, the Phone weekly and has screwed up his prepaid cellphone to the point that it makes random bleeps just sitting on the kitchen counter.

Fortunately, he has never managed to screw up the computer, and if he does, I can fix it. Our current iMac has worked flawlessly for well over 2 years. He's managed to screw up the Printer settings...it took my techie friend about 30 seconds to fix it, I couldn't :( but it still hasn't crashed, not once.

Like I said in another thread, if Apple wants to come out with a Universal iRemote, i'D be iNterested.

Your love for Microsloth is based on what? And why do you think apple should die?
But regardless Apple will NEVER die...it's 100000000000000 times more innovative than Microslug could ever be plus it's more nimble in being able to make great acquisitions and grow the brand. Face it Microsoft - had it's day and it's actually been downhill since windows NT...well actually even before that ...
Apple ALL THE WAY.
Apple stock is ON FIRE..multi year highs approaching and Microthug is...
ohhhh...

Oh just ignore Jimboy, he only says he hates Apple because me and trawler like them. He loves Apple really, just can't afford one. He also just loves buying novelty flying saucer PC cases.

yea i know, i really secretly love apple, my iphone ROCKS and thats correct i can't afford a Mac, :(
i love my antec skeleton case! and yes it does look abit like a flying saucer, lol

Bill Gates 2008 net worth = $58,000,000,000

I wish I had created such a "a complete disaster"....... ](*,) .......

Help! Help! I'm being oppressed! :-)

Unlike Windows users who can load the latest version of Word on their Windows 3.1, machines?
lol who is still using a 3.1 machine.

Then again, that 3.1 software your still using can still work in current windows.

Sucks about those PowerPC users. Either get a new Mac or die. tisk tisk
