Midwest Meetup!

LOOKING GOOD! Thank you for giving us the itinerary and plans, Transpogue. Anybody nearby who may have been on the fence about showing up, maybe you'll see something that you'll like here in the list. Nothing says that anybody needs to stay around the entire weekend. And the restaurant menu looks interesting.

Fairly recently I was talking to NineOfClubs on the phone, and the topic of shopping came up, and he had to agree with a remark that I made. As many of us know, politically he leans Libertarian and conservative, both - but I somehow started talking about Ann Arbor, and I mentioned that when you have shops, restaurants and other retail being established by "progressives and liberals" (and then I mentioned gays almost immediately as well), the results tend to be FAR more distinctive and interesting than the places which are established by pure conservative business types, LOL.

Swerve, you're right - wilderoastcafe IS INDEED the perfect choice for us. Poofy omelets??? "Hey, he said POOFY, he-heheh, h-h-heh, heh" Even more appropriate considering that a gay guy from Great Britain will be with us. (I wonder how many will understand the rather incorrect slang reference here...) :rotflmao: --cool!--

You gotta be kidding me Lube - yet ANOTHER BIG RECORD STORE? Minneapolis ALREADY had, I think, more GOOD record stores (with vinyl) than perhaps any other city in the United States. (Well, Pittsburgh and New York City may compete...but Minneapolis has the only store I'm aware of, anywhere on this planet, which is large and sells exclusively 78RPM records!) That one looks entirely nuts! I think there are more good record stores in The Cities than in the entire state of Texas!

I'm trying my best to arrive Thursday afternoon when LilBit does. Anybody else coming before Friday? I have heard there's at least one other person who MIGHT show up on Thursday, but it's still not known (though this is only the person I'm in touch with - there could be others for all I know, lol).

I noticed that the PM "network" includes springboksfan, but I didn't hear anything definite about his attendance. I hope so! Are you planning to show up, S.?

I've told a few of you about this, but I may as well go public with my info.

I'm arriving Wed. 5/5 and leaving Wed. 5/12. I'm staying at the Millennium Hotel http://www.millenniumhotels.com/millenniumminneapolis/ at 1313 Nicollet Mall in downtown Minneapolis. I booked through Priceline and my winning bid was $41/night. Of course, tax and booking fee is additional.

I have made one definite plan: I bought a ticket to the Twins game Thursday night. That means no wild karaoke in Eau Claire for me. Rats. But I have to be first on my block to see a game in sparkling-new Target Field.

And there's always the possibility of wild karaoke in the Twin Cities. I do love Celine Dion.

If anyone wants more info from me, feel free to PM.

I may be able to make it to Minneapolis after all....

And, just in case, who are the Twins playing Thursday night?

^ Never mind. For me the game is off.

Because I'm flying into Minneapolis on Friday. What fun!(!)

See you all there! (!) (!) (!)

^ HERE'S HOPING! I think a lot of us hope to see you, and have your world intersect with ours for the weekend!

This will make a fun weekend ever better.

[EDIT: Oh wow!!! You actually posted the definite news while I was working on my post. This is great news indeed.]

:(

This thread is making me more and more depressed. I can't make it for sure.

Transpogue, Kevvypants, Lube, NoC, Frank, Lilbit, CG, Swerve, and more.

Please post pictures!

Yay, Nine!!!!!!

Wow, we may have to buy more lobster for Friday night. ;)

OK, we're just having build-your-own shish kebabs, but that's so carnivores, vegans, and vegetarians can all get along. And my partner will make a homemade dessert, too.

Kebabs! Genius!

You all get to meet my BF, too!

Not much extra lobster for me--I barely touch shellfish.

But, wow! I can't wait!

Oh. Is BYOB possible?

Well, I'll be at the Millennium too! (!)

Fri, Sat, Sun.. Leaving Monday.

My Priceline deal was not as good as yours, I'm paying $45. Still..... :-)

Glad to see Niner is going to make it to the meet after all!(!)So many great people attending I'm bummed I can't make it to this one(budget plus inability to get off the wwekend, unfortunately)But I hope you all have a tremendous time and am positive Poguey,Kevbo and Lube will be wonderful hosts, you'll see and experience the best Minneapolis-St.Paul has to offer, and it will be the best meet yet!..|!

^ Agreed, Saucy. I think we're in good hands with these hosts.

It's been about 20 years since I've been to Minneapolis, it was great then--must be magnificent now!

I do wish you had been able to make it, though, Saucy......

I wish too...especially with all the stuff I've been reading about here regarding the itinerary...lots of great venues in store and very gay friendly, supportive vibe.I knew pretty early on it was going to be a difficult accomplishment to get there...two weeks coming up of the biggest sale we had so far this year, weather looks good for the next7-10 days...it's gonna be busy.Budget wise it's not the best time either. But I want to catch up with Lube and Frank again by phone and speak to as many Jubbers as possible, most definitely including yourself,Niner sometime during the festivities.

Oh, we'll miss you for sure, Saucy! (*8*)

Pretty sure I'll be able to make it Friday night.... are nine people seriously only coming now? wtf.

Earlier today swerve and I did a preliminary count and come up with a few more than nine attendees.

And that was without you! :-)

Try to make it hyperdude88. (!)

After all, guys are coming from Pennsylvania, Georgia, Oregon, Wisconsin, Illinois. Even from Scotland!

I was thinking 8 or 9, including my partner and me. ??!

We need a definitive count if we want to eat on Friday. :)

C'mon, people. Shit or get off the pot. :) I'm going to ask Transpogue for a definitive number on Monday so I can go shopping and planning for dinner on Friday. So let Transpogue know ASAP.

If you're not in by Monday, you don't eat Friday. :)
