Mike Huckabee and women's libidos

Alexandra Petri has a good article about Huckabee's blunder.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs...nd-womens-uncontrolled-libido-or-uncle-sugar/

She comments republicans need to talk to women as if they're in the room. Also talk to women, not about them. Unless republicans learn to do this they'll never win another national election.

I think talking with women would be better.
Republicans are experts at talking to everyone, but they rarely talk with anyone.

Thank you --- that's the point Huckabee was trying to make -- democrats think they know what's best for women and have convinced many they can't get along without government help and government making decisions for them.

WTF? It's the GOP trying to dictate to women how to behave!

And BTW, no one can "get along without government help". The world in which that was possible vanished a long time ago.

Why should they?

They know what's right, why do they need the input of women when they already know what's morally right for women?

Of course it would be, but republicans still believe women are an inferior class of people who have to be subservient to their husbands.

I don't see that many people discussing the real issue here.

First of all, as much as the GOP screams about abortion, if they were really for doing anything possible to reduce the number of abortions they would be all for expanding access to birth control as much as possible because more people using birth control equates to fewer unwanted pregnancies.

The real issue is that the GOP hates birth control because it's something that enables non-procreational recreational sex. And they hate that and view it as immoral. That's also why many of them oppose comprehensive sex ed and condom distribution.

Your journey into liberalism and the nanny state appears to be almost complete.

People don't like birth control that kills babies.

People are also concerned that if birth control is so widely available people are going to do something they would not normally do. Birth control doesn't always work and birth control does nothing to stop the spread of STD's.

Yes, and so did this kind of thinking:

No true conservative would believe that the government should be making these kinds of social engineering or moral engineering choices for citizens.

How nice of the Reverend to share a sermon on a chilly Sunday.

Thanks for providing an example of exactly what I was saying Jack.

And btw, no form of birth control kills babies.

A zygote is not a baby.

You mean the nanny state that dictates what we get to do based on "morality" or "what ideas may get put into our heads" if we're allowed birth control?

There's only one form of birth control that "kills babies", and it's very rare -- it's the partial birth abortion.

Just because you believe in an ideological position that can't be supported either by science or the Bible doesn't mean you have any right to try to impose that on others.

I am infinitely entertained by the dementia-inspired statement that RESTRICTION equals respect, but free choice equals disrespect.

Jack, sweetheart, the most common form of birth-control - CONDOMS - actually prevents STDs with quite a high success rate. Now that you know this, maybe you'll get laid, cause that furnace needs to vent some heat, man.

You're welcome.

And the recommended right-wing form of birth control, abstention, is guaranteed to prevent the transmission of STDs.

There is a thing called stupidity with Republicans that oppose abortion, yet insist on making it harder for women to have access to contraception and family planning as a part of their healthcare coverage. You'll have less abortions if you provide women the same access to contraception as men have to Viagra. Not to mention how many women take contraception as a preventative to cancer and other diseases.

Anything less of an understanding to this makes you a sexist.
