Mike Huckabee's New Anti-Gay Phone Campaign

So I had just woken up a few minutes ago when I received a phone call - I pick up and do the usual "Hello" type business and I hear a machine start to play off its spiel. Turns out it's a campaign message from Mike "Bigot" Huckabee (or at the very least someone claiming to be him) and it immediately starts on a diatribe about how "We must stop the anti-Christian movement in the United States" and goes a particular rant against same-sex marriage for nearly 1 minute, including the late decision to allow same-sex marriage in navy chapels and how it is "immoral". I was hoping there was some way to leave my rather infuriated comment on the matter, but it ended up just playing out and hanging up. I can't believe this disgusting hate speech is being allowed to be passed off as "political campaigning", that they're allowed to call people's homes for it!!!! I'm so fucking disgusted and angry!!!!

I don't know, it has to be new because I couldn't find anything in google about it yet. That disgusting bigoted clown will never be elected in this country, he's stuck in the mid 20th century. He also asked the people he called to "sign" some sort of petition I think it was, but I didn't catch what exactly.

On the Do Not Call list? Because you should report it.

Apparently political calls are exempted from the the "Do Not Call" registry. I honestly don't mind them once in a while during election season (mildly irritating mostly), but this one absolutely crossed the boundaries of decency and was blatantly aggressive and highly offensive. I really wish I had thought of recording it on my answering machine so I could share it with everybody here...given how much Huckabee likes to do robocalling, I may have some 'luck' in that endeavor.

haha, well, 5-7% of the population is certainly nothing to scoff at, but I'm sure that won't stop the fundies like Huckabee and Palin from spreading the hate around to rally their voter base. Maybe if we're lucky they rally them enough to win the Republican nomination - everybody knows they don't stand a chance at the national level.

unfortunately I have friends working in a call-center here in Costa Rica for his campaign soliciting donations for him and people are sending in from $50 to $7,000 a pop! So the DO NOT CALL list will not work here for the US. I was asked to work for this and I said HELL NO!

I'm surprised Apple's ipad did not recognize 'homo' as an acceptable word. Apple is a well known gay-friendly company. I guess when they recently removed an app promising "freedom from homosexuality through the power of Jesus" (aka 'gay cure'), they inadvertently deleted 'homo' from their word search.

I doubt that SCOTUS has ruled on that constitutional principle, so it is assumed to not apply. And I think that considering Huckabee is just a tv pundit on a pathetic biased network he has no standing to pursue robocalls.

Apparently he's been doing robocalls for some time now, legal standing or not - a quick google search for "huckabee robocall 2011" reveals he was calling people to oppose "Obamacare" last month.

The First Amendment protections are specifically aimed at political speech and it doesn't matter if you are a politician or not.
