Hey guys! God it's been so long since i've posted! It has been a frakking hell of a summer here. First i got shufflef around from city to city doing conferences for work for 2 months, then when i finally got home i get slammed with a HUGE (albeit profitable) project from work! This has definately been the busiest i've ever been for any job i've ever had. It seriously effected my online time! I missed you guys! But it's finally started to slack off with the close of this last project, it's a HUGE PC game we were called in to work on, i can't say the title yet, but when it finally comes out i'll spill the beans (so you call all rush out and buy it) ;).

Anyways, i've also been having this problem that's been bugging me and i can't get a handle on it. I've started noticing in games i'm getting a lot of mis-rendered polygons in random places, they may be black, or missing, or stretched off the screen. And i'm getting a lot of hard crashes during D3D games.

Now, nVidia just released some new drivers, so i removed (and driver cleaned) the old ones, and installed the new ones, didn't really help any. So i got to thinking it may be a DirectX problems, but DXdiag didn't show any errors. So i updated DX, and installed the latest DirectX SDK, to no avail.

I know it's got to be a driver or DirectX issue if it's causing polygon fuckups, and hard crashes. I just can't seem to pinpoint anything that will fix it. Any ideas?

P.S.
How is everyone doing?? Noels? Mike? You guys still around? Everything going good here at JUB?

/\

glad to see ya back on! we've missed you. noelie's been holding down the fort pretty much because i was sorta MIA for a bit, at least from most of the board.

i have no clue on the polygon thing. but why can't it be a hardware issue? can the card be wanking out on ya? i'd try the card in another machine with the same game and see what happens....but that's just me. :)

Your time away has made you a bit rusty young man ;)

Tech Support 101

Make/Model of graphics card (we know the nVidia bit).

Names of games (unless it's the secret one you're working on - then you're screwed )

(*8*)

Hehe, you're soooo right.

eVGA nVidia GeForce 7900GTX, as for the games, i can tell you the non-dev ones i've had problems with. Galactic Civilizations II, Civilization IV, Command and Conquer 3, and Supreme Commander.

Heya mike!! :) Glad to see you're back too then!

I don't think it's a hardware issue (well beyond a driver issue) because it's just not presenting like one. The problems are so specific, i'd think if it was crapping out (it's exactly 1 year old this month) i'd be getting a wide range of very generalized malfunctions. Unfortunately i don't have another PCIe machine laying around... I suppose i could take it to my mum's house and try, but that would just piss her off. She doesn't like it when she comes home to find me and her computer in 100 peices on the floor, heh, go figure.

P.S.

When did the new Sig Rules come into effect? We didn't have a 6 line limit the last time i updated! :(

EEEk.... ok, time to go read some of that...

P.S.
To anyone that's interested, i updated my gallery with new versions of some of the artwork i had there, and pleanty of new artwork as well ;).

Your home page is just stunning. It's a visual feast (especially for the SciFi brigade).

Time for a new avatar?

Godammit - it is REALLY irritating to be shoved back to the JUB forum homepage when you give someone's pics or homepage a rating - why can't they fix that?

Hehe thanks :) I added one more pic you might like just a sec ago. It's a Work In Progress shot of an Atlantis City model i'm working on. It's not finished yet though. And i updated all the stargate shots to the new versions, they look a lot better now i think, and i added those planetscape shots which i thought were cool ;). And now i have to go make a new avatar, lol.

I know about the ratings! They haven't fixed that yet? Geeze! Make sure to give me starz!

(Hmm, and the page needs a general revamp now too, some errors on it... One thing at a time though, one thing at a time...)

I'm still trying to figure out the video card problem, that's a lot to read this early in the morning... or late at night, depending on how you look at it *blurry eyes*.
