Missouri GOP Senate primary: McCaskill gets the Republican Opponent she wants

outliers don't count

PPP is hardly an outlier, and if you took the time to read the poll questions and the answers you wouldn't embarrass yourself all the time with nonsense like that. You don't get to choose whose poll is legit or not on the basis of their alignment with your outlier views.

buddy.

I embarrass myself regularly, and its always on my own terms.

Now that we have established that no one has a right to claim a poll to be correct, I think this conversation is futile. You have argued yourself out of a source.

Republicians are ticked off at Akin not for what he said but calling attention to the fact that yes, they want the right to tell women what they can and can't do with their own bodies.

Claire pulled a fast one.

If she loses -- Kerry will have an opponent for SOS.

McCaskill has been a pivotal figure in American politics for years, but Missouri is a strange place that is getting more strange by the day.

Akin actually did some praiseworthy things, like opposing the big pharma bill and casino contributions if those are true. Not small deeds in my eyes.

I think McCaskill may run for president in 2016, behind Hillary she was voted the most likely woman to become president, and i think this may be why shes struggling in a increasingly right-wing state. Not sure she could even carry her own state but she could hold her own nationally.

You repeatedly dismiss any view other than your own without any backup. If you actually took some time to understand the nature of the polling industry you would realize how futile and self-destructive it would be for a pollster to deliberately slant their product. The biggest problem with polls is the sample and methodology and the interpretation of results by the media. Simply reading the headlines of a poll and then dismissing the results because they don't fit the narrow parameters of ones limited capability of understanding is your claim to fame here. You also do this with any other evidence that conflicts with your views. If x + Y = Z and you don't like Z, you claim x or Y is invalid with nothing to back you up. The perfect example of fallacious reasoning. Then you distort the statements of others, like saying "we have established" when it is simply you. Polls have a function, and that function is not to make you sleep better knowing someone out there agrees with you. I look at the polls and the questions that actually make up the results in order to get an understanding of trends. That's what they are for, I'm just sayin............

McCaskill has way too much baggage to run for President. Murdered drug pusher husband, new husband who is richer than Romney with more offshore accounts and businesses -- and more.

However, if she has a MSM that supports her like Obama -- she has a chance.

This is the crux of the matter.

The government, including Democrats tells us what we can;t do with our bodies in countless ways. No prostitution, no steroids, no narcotics, marijuana, no drugs not approved by the FDA, no alcohol or tobacco without tax, seat belts, helmets for motorcycle drivers, the list is endless.
Obama has his own vulnerability. He is on record as favoring late term abortion of children who are viable, i.e. third trimester.FLASHBACK: Obama Says He's 'Pro-Choice' on Third-Trimester Abortions

Evanrick's meandering "McCaskill for Pres." is not worth addressing

Bottom line is she's gonna win when she had NO chance going into the Repub primary and had Akin been put in mothballs for a few mos. she's an ex senator

Now she can redecorate her place

And his funders are queueing up to send him more campaign money that McCaskill will get...I don't doubt it for a second. Focus On the Family or other organizations of their ilk can bury her in money.

McCaskill's been running her nice ads the last couple of days. Her mother telling how great a daughter she is and how her father was a WW2 hero.

In interviews she's playing the perfect little candidate -- not wanting to respond to questions about Akin.

It's all going according to her plan. She's delighted.

Let's hope someone digs into her days as Jackson County Prosecutor and ex-druggerpusher husband. There is so much stuff to sling -- if someone has the guts.

perhaps what the nation needs is someone who has the guts to NOT sling the mud.

What a concept.

Political dignity.

That died with Ted Kennedy and Tip O'Neil.

^^^

BP, I guess I really didn't make my point. She slung a lot of mud during the primary and started with attack ads against Aiken on the Wednesday morning after the primary. Her ads were misleading and used a lot of editing of what Aiken said to make him look like a complete idiot.

McCaskill used a political tactic that doesn't always work -- picking your own opponent.

Aiken, an unknown, unremarkable congressman became the perfect opponent. He had national attention for the first time of his life (what most politicians live for) and made a complete fool of himself by not being prepared for media questions.

Now, unless Aiken resigns or McCaskill screws up, Missouri will have her for another 6 years.

Ted Kennedy and mud -- not sure you want to go there -- people will never forget the muddy waters of Chappaquiddick. Any ordinary citizen would have spent the rest of their life in prison.

BTW -- McCaskill is no Danforth or Truman.

^ Nice.

Typical Springer move to go to Chappaquiddick.

As we all learned, Todd Akin (not 'Aiken') (y'all will need the correct speeling of his name when you go to the Ballot Box in November!) doesn't need any editing to look like a complete idiot.

Todd Akin

The notion that a woman’s body will experience different biological responses to intercourse depending on whether the sex act is consensual or coerced can be traced back to the Middle Ages. At this time the scientific and medical texts of Greek and Roman antiquity were being translated and appropriated by European doctors and philosophers, all of whom, without exception, were not only male but also members of the Roman Catholic clergy. Thus, science and medicine were given a distinctly ideological and theological spin.

The medieval roots of Mr. Akin’s comments lie in the scientific belief that a woman needed to experience sexual pleasure just as much as a man in order for conception to occur.

Akin Co wrote and co sponsored a bill with Rep Ryan who now wants us to vote for him as the guy behind the curtain... that is.. the modern GOP vice president.

Get back to me on that, Jack Springer, when Ryan pulls his arm out of Romney's ass and tells us what he intended when he tried to redefine rape in Federal legislation.

Now that's dirty muddy politics.

And when you do? also tell me why the GOP placed the exact same language into their platform THREE... 3 ... Three days ago, after the week they spent disavowing Akin. The GOP isn't upset with him for his opinion, they are upset that he caused the american public to look more closely at the dirty little secret that is the paul Ryan legislative history. Once again, the GOP finds itself at odds with reality and relies on the slight of hand and the stupidity of the voter to remember who said what and voted for what.

I know... You guys think that if only Romney keeps his trap shut, you will rid yourselves of the pesky negro president, but at some point the GOP will have to respond to the women of the nation on this one. No one can win the presidency with out the Women majority, the black majority and the Latino majority.

It is a numerical impossibility.

That has nothing to do with claire and everything to do with the ENTIRE GOP PLATFORM.

You cannot win a majority vote when you are a radical extremist party who has thrown its own most powerful political players on the Rino funeral stake for not being "conservative" enough for Rush Limbaugh.

The GOP shot itself in the foot again, and just like they could have taken the Dems out in the senate with Harry Reid, by catering to the bottom feeders, They have lost their shot at congress.

This is a republican problem. Claire McCaskil was probably clearing out her office and mentally moving on before this asshat of a man Akin, with the full support of his party, made an issue out of something he should not have in an interview.

Republicians are ticked off at Akin not for what he said but calling attention to the fact that yes, they want the right to tell women what they can and can't do with their own bodies.

So true. Akin is not alone. Here is a sample of outrageous statements:

Todd Akin Is Not Alone: Outrageous Statements About Women (VIDEO)
Mike Barry
Huffington Post, Aug 24

... we compiled the most absurd claims prominent people have made about women’s health, from the terrifying side effects of contraception, to the supposed link between abortion and cancer, to the idea that lesbians can’t have children. It'll make you laugh out loud--that is, if it doesn't scare you to death.

How many of them had evidence-based sex ed? Not many it seems. Same with their voters.
