Although I don't think much of the assignment, it's nice to know that small mindedness is alive and well in my home state.

Missouri School Settles Gay Adoption Row

Pay Off Pupil, Pass On Professor

All right, let's get this day started right. Or is it wrong? We'll let you decide on that one, readers.

Missouri State University has settled a lawsuit with a student by the name of Emily Brooker. It seems Brooker took issue with an assigment to write letters to her lawmakers advocating gay adoption. A good Christian of the Ted Haggard variety, Brooker couldn't reconcile her academic dreams with her deep-seated belief that homos are rotten child-eating mongrels. Thus, she refused to do the assignment.
365 Gay reports:
Brooker claimed that after she refused to sign the letter because of her religious beliefs she was subjected to a two-and-a-half hour interrogation by faculty members, who allegedly asked her personally invasive questions such as, “Do you think gays and lesbians are sinners?” and “Do you think I am a sinner?”
To which Brooker replied, "You're a hell demon, may you burn for all eternity for even posing such a question!" Okay, she didn't say that, but she did call her lawyers, who successfully argued that Brooker's first amendment rights had been violated. As a result, MSU's agreed to pay Brooker 9,000 bones and the offending profressor, Frank Kauffman has stepped down as the head of the program.

So, what was the program? Social Work. Nice, huh?

Just confirms my belief that gays are some of the least tolerant people around. So, if Evangelicals "slag" gays, it's bad, homophobic, bigoted, intolerant. But, if gays do the same to others it's okay? Am I getting that right? And, it's okay to do this even if it's not true?

Something like that yeah.

Payback c'est le bitch.

To be honest, I think calling her "small-minded" is just fine. She doens't believe that gay men and women can be good parents. I think that pretty much PROVES she's "Small Minded". So suggesting that we're being unfair is.. well.. unfair.

Q.E.D.

Then why are you here, sorry but I find it wierd how your here mostly to bitch about how horrible the gays are.

I don't.

Please, there are a few forums here that are filled with people who are so down on themselves for being gay that they lash out at anyone who's not miserable.

the amount of times I've been called a "bully" or a "tosser" or some other name by people who are struggling with their own issues is kinda sad.

what always gets me is 100% of abuses that happen to adopted or fostered children happen to them while in straight households...

and they think gay adoption is wrong....

Apparently there are those among us who believe that if you don't agree with me, there must be something -- dreadfully! -- wrong with you. The idea that people can be, need to be, persuaded of the rightness of your political point of view, in a democracy with free speech and freedom of religion, is apparently abhorrent to some people.

Could this just be laziness? Why don't they already agree with me! I already know I'm right, godammit, why can't you see that?

So OK, so therefore gay marriage, to change the topic slightly, is now off the books in every state but one. And in going down, it took with it civil unions, domestic partnerships, hospital visitation rights, wills, adoption, etc. etc. depending on the state.

But that's OK, we know we're right, so there!

All this in the midst of a "Democratic" "victory"! Long live the Cause! We know who our friends are -- don't we???

OH , Slobone and I disagree all the time (check the Worst gay movie thread), I still wanna lay him down in the tall grass and let him do his stuff.

Some points

1. MY 1st post was in part just to see what reaction I would get, I was bored.

2. Mowrest20 I looked at your posting past and it seems that in large part you are here just to bitch at others.

3. I agree to and extent, but you really overestimate how easily others opinions will be changed.

4. I think Jasun hit a nerve, sorry but you really give off the slight self-hating smarmy bi-guy vibe.

Jasun would be me.

Jasun Burridge Dakota Mark.

Yes, I have the faggiest name ever. I've learned to own it.

Some counter-points

1. Well, when you post schlock you're going to get reactions

2. I'm glad I'm so fascinating that you researched me. My rationale for making these posts isn't just to bitch at others. It's to hold people accountable for what I deem to be flawed arguments, logic or facts. That's it.

3. I don't believe I ever said it would be easy to sway opinions. Look back at any civil rights issues and tell me which ones were easy. Doesn't mean it shouldn't be tried.

4. I don't know who Jasun is, so I can't comment about where he hit me. However, I can say that I'm none of the things you claim, which I'm sure is shocking since you've never met me but rather have read a few of my posts. I'm definitely not slight, hell I don't hate anyone much less myself, don't think I'm smarmy but I'll ask my mom. But, you did get one right, I am bi. Your powers of deduction aren't totally off.

1. Good I was bored

2.I search though most peoples post, it's not a big compliment, and please tell me your not taking this as seriously as it seems you are.

3. Well, good I just hope you know a large portion of those people will never change their opinion and ever see me a human being.

4. Maybe Jasun will field this one since he is a lot better at analyzing the annoying portion of bi men. Also, slight self-hating smarmy bi guy, had no commas so it was one big phase not many small adjectives.

I'm sure this is digressing to more of a pissing contest that staying on topic, so spank me if I need to be, or if I just want to be.

1. So, you post crap because you're bored? Good to know.

2. Because I try to use facts and logic to make my point I'm taking it too seriously. I guess I figure if I'm going to take the time, I may as well try to make a good point.

3. Since you assume that people could never change their opinion of you, you'd rather not even try?

4. Jasun needn't waste his him analyzing my annoying parts, way too big a project. And since slight (although I think you meant slightly) self-hating smarmy and bi all modify guy (which is me) I took the liberty to refute those assertions.

For God sakes this is a thread on a Internet Message board, you think anyone in the begining of this thread ever wanted a serious disscussion. No they wanted to rag on the girl and let off some steam and let the thread die after a day or 2 you had to make it into a big debate. Also I never said I wouldn't try, I just realized a large portion would never change their mind about me no matter how hard I tried, so I don't hold out a lot of hope, and good to know about the last thing.

Well, that's interesting. It was my assumption, and observation, that people on the board did actually have serious discussions about many different topics. If I'm mistaken, I hope others will set me straight (insert joke here). I would hate to waste my time actually taking discussions I have, either in person or online, seriously.

You'll know when were being serious, we'll actually consider what other say. Plus we'll use the serious button as seen above.

Okay, this is now the most ridiculous statement in this thread. Come on, if you're going to make a statement like "100% of abuses...happen to them while in straight households", you have to back it up. That's just ridiculous. Most, nearly all, a vast majority. I could have bought that. Also, numbers don't mean anything, how about the percentage of abused kids in straight homes versus gay homes? I still wouldn't be surprised if it's higher in straight homes, but lets see your proof.

OK your right about one thing...I worded it wrong.... and I appologize....
according to a web search that I performed there are NO findings of any reports or articles that relate that a homosexual adopted or foster parent has ever molested or abused a child.... this brings me to the conclusion that all molestations or abuses happen while a child is in a straight foster or adopted family....

Just confirms my belief that gays are some of the least tolerant people around. So, if Evangelicals "slag" gays, it's bad, homophobic, bigoted, intolerant. But, if gays do the same to others it's okay? Am I getting that right? And, it's okay to do this even if it's not true?

exactly. she had as much right to refuse the assignment as anyone else would have if the "opposite" situation had occured.

ok I make the effort to appologize and rectify my mistake and still your hateful and ignorant.... thank you so much for accepting my appology....
