A gay veteran lit into GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney at a campaign stop in New Hampshire on Monday, challenging the former Massachusetts governor on his views on same-sex marriage.

Romney approached Bob Garon, a gay man seated with his husband at the Chez Vachon restaurant, taking note of the man's Vietnam Veteran hat.

I doubt candidates will be approaching two unvetted men out together now until equal marriage is settled.

Good for Garon.

It needs to happen more and more often.

To be fair, I think the guy was acting somewhat like a child towards the end. He clearly was not an undecided voter and he certainly didn't make up his mind on the spot right there. So he has credibility issues. He already knew what Romney's position was going into this.

Romney gave him a clear answer on whether he would support Gay Marriage and Romney said "No".

Had Romney given an unclear answer, then he would have bitched that Romney didn't give him a clear answer.

There was no pleasing the guy unless Romney said he would support Gay Marriage ... which simply was not going to happen.

I disagree.

It doesn't matter what the guy's politics were. His credibility isn't an issue.

He seized the opportunity to effectively glitter bomb a supercilious candidate trolling for photo ops and reinforce once again that the Republicans are no friends to the homos in the country.

When people get into discussions like this i ask myself: Who benefits?

Like the above poster said: We know Mitt's Position, and we know the veterans position now.

Mitt Romney benefits and people who see this injusice should take comfort that it isnt just the a small bloc of people who support same sex marriage, its the majority of Americas. But Mitt Romney was governor of one of the most liberal states in the country, and we know Romney is being clearly political here.

We know Romney would support same sex marriage, he just isnt in the climate to say that. If he were before a gay-rights group or perhaps running for Ted Kennedys seat again, I think we would see the other side of Mitt Romney.

Romney = Obama on marriage equality.

If Romney does become president, I think Republicans instincts are right, he would be another Nixon, aka a RINO.

It appears that Mr. Romney hasn't noticed the part in the Preamble to Constitution where it states that all are entitled to "life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness."

The basic principle of the U.S. Constitution is equal protection under the law, if you like that sort of thing.

he would be another Nixon
:rotflmao: i.e. a non-crook

If the guy only served a couple of years in the Army -- there are not many benefits from the US Government to that veteran.

To enjoy veteran benefits you pretty much have had to retire from the army.

Romney is done anyway. He's not going anywhere.
