Modern Family [merged]

Re: Modern Family

Don't watch much TV. Might be fun to check out with friends.

ABC's Modern Family

Has anyone seen this show? It's hilarious. Entertainment Weekly selected it as a top ten TV show from 2009. The gay couple cracks me up. The writing is spot on.

If interested, you can go to ABC.com and watch episodes for free. Start with episode one which is side splittingly funny.

I rarely watch network TV ( 24 on Fox and the Office on NBC), but this show is worth 22 minutes of your time--DVR the next episode--it's on Wednesday nights at 7:00 P.M. CDT.

Re: ABC's Modern Family

Def on of my favorites of the season- I'm a tv junkie and this def is required viewing!

Re: ABC's Modern Family

I kind of dismissed it from the print ads, but when I caught some I was drawn in. It's another "documentary" styled show. A little like "The Office" with a focus on three branches of an extended family. There's a touch of "Arrested Development" in the comic timing as well.

ABC was running them all night last Sunday against the Super Bowl, so I DVR'd them to catch up this weekend.

Neither of the gay characters are exactly a type I'd go for, but it might take me out of the humor a bit if they did.

Modern Family

Hi Gang

I don't think I have ever started a thread in this forum before - but there's a first time for everything, right?

Anyway, I have fallen absolutely head over heels in love with "Modern Family" which is a sitcom that has just begun to air in Australia (though I understand it has completed it's first season in the US).

It is essentially a mockumentary look at three families - Claire and Phil and their three kids, Cameron and Mitchell and their adopted Vietnamese baby and Jay and Gloria and her son.

It is, hands down, one of the funniest shows I have seen in recent years. I have been recommending it to everyone I know!!

Is anyone else a fan?

For those who have no idea what I am on about, here's a promo clip from youtube:

Enjoy!

Re: Modern Family

I just love this show. I can not wait until the fall when the new seasons starts.

Re: Modern Family

I love this show too.

Don't know how much of it has aired in Australia yet, but keep watching - it keeps getting better.

Re: Modern Family

It is a little gem, let see how many networks try to copy it for next season.

I'm a big fan. Which episodes have you seen in Australia? I particularly recommend the birthday party episode ("Fizbo", Season 1, Episode 9). But they're all good.

Re: Modern Family

We've just seen episode 3! The one where Jay flies the plane into Phil's face!!

So far, my favourite has been Cameron and Mitchell at the childcare centre. Cameron's reaction to the woman saying she doesn't like Meryl Streep is classic!!

Re: Modern Family

I'm a FAN. I've watched every single ep up to date.

Re: Modern Family

this show's writing gets better! it's less politically correct as it prrogrressed, and i love it!

Modern Family -- the boys will kiss?

So, is it a big deal that the boys haven't kissed on "Modern Family?" The rant being that the heteros have kissed but the homos have not.

It was planned all along. Before the Cam-Mitch kiss controversystarted up.
"We've had an episode planned for a long time that dealt with that subject of [Cameron and Mitchell's PDA]," Levitan told us at a cocktail reception for Emmy-nominated producers last night. "So it almost bothers us that there was a little bit of controversy about it. Because we don't want to appear that we're answering that criticism. But sure enough, we're dealing with public displays of affection, and the power of a kiss. Seems simple, but intriguing—I hope."

Re: Modern Family -- the boys will kiss?

To put my own spin on the end of the article, "Seems simple and bullshit."

If there can be straight kisses there should be gay kisses. If most audiences weren't uncomfortable with two men kissing this would be a non-issue and there wouldn't be a double standard.

Re: Modern Family -- the boys will kiss?

Another irrelevant issue for bored gay folks to bitch about

Re: Modern Family -- the boys will kiss?

It was NEVER an issue. As Ed O'Neill pointed out, his character and Sofia Vergara's character never kissed in the first season and no one made a fuss out of that!

Geez!

It's a great show with lots of laugh - why is it important for the two gay characters to kiss? Really!

Re: Modern Family -- the boys will kiss?

I just don't know why they shouldn't kiss?

I know I didn't answer the question and just provided another question.

Re: Modern Family -- the boys will kiss?

One of the reasons I don't watch token gay television shows is that the homos are never allowed to show affection or sexual interest.

Re: Modern Family -- the boys will kiss?

how about we just appreciate the fact that a gay relationship has made it onto mainstream television with a great deal of success. more senseless complaining.
