Momma Mia! (The Movie)

I want to go see it. It looks like a fun movie, but I can only handle so much musical stuff. And I love that the girl who was in Big Love is in the movie. She looks amazing with ther tan.

I'm gonna go see it next week when I get a free movie pass from work :D

Just got back and loved every second of it. My favourite film of all time now.
It was like an orgasm in film form.

Dominic Cooper is just gorgeous, they're all GREAT actors and the chemistry between them all was excellent. The scenery was gorgeous and it was just spectacular.

I didn't have any expectations and I'm not a huge fan but I loved it! It has renewed my interest in ABBA. I like the song Voulez-vouz! The movie was great.

It renewed my interest too. I just bought the soundtrack. I think Amanda Seyfried sings beautifully for the film. I think Pierce Brosnan was awful but I think that was part of the films charm. It's supposed to be camp and silly and it was good to see such a typecast serious character play a role like this.

And ABBA can't sue, Benny and Bjorn produced the film. What do the two women do nowadays?

Lay All Your Love On Me is my favourite. And the Dancing Queen scene with the hundreds of women parading down the pier was so good. I cried at that part.

a308936: I think Piazza could work. The novella became a movie at one point, so why not the musical? The entire thing is very cinematic anyway, from the set to the songs (especially Aiutami, with the Strange Interlude style address to the audience from Signora Naccarelli).

And I did see this movie. It was a first rate, fantastic production of a mind numbingly terrible musical. Meryl Streep actually manged to almost make me take her seriously during Winner Take All. Christine Baranski is a goddess. Julie Waters...just love. And Amanda Seyfried's voice is lovely; just adding to my love for her. Pierce Brosnan should be shot.
Basically, with the exception of Brosnan, this movie was as good as it was capable of being. And the cinematography was stunning.

I did notice the piano man, but I didn't notice it was Benny or Bjorn (forget which) until I read about it when I got home.

And the cinematogaphy is actually exceptional. I love the bit with all the women singing Dancing Queen dancing down the pier and running across the island. The cinematography there in particular was just astounding.

I saw it a while ago and I was absolutely smitten, I left the theatre so psyched up - I really wanted to just walk back in to see it again :D. It may not be the best film ever in terms of plot or any significant meaning, but it's just meant to entertain and liven you up, which it sure as heck did :D

And Colin Firth, *drool* don't even get me started on him - I had to restrain myself from jumping the screen during the Gimme Gimme Gimme and Take a Chance scenes, lol.

I thought the singing was awful except Dominic Cooper and Amanda Sayfied. (That scene on the beach remind me of the beginning of Grease. ) Both actors can sing.
Meryl is probably the best actress in dramatic role but in my opinion she kind of overplayed this one and her singing was passable.
Piere Brosnan is the worst singer in this movie. He can play the best James Bond but he can't carry a tune.
There are so many good actors who can act and sing and I don't understand why they didn't get the job. (may be they're not a big fan of ABBA.)
I like Abba songs. They're fun to listen to.
Was thinking of getting a soundtrack, now that I saw the movie. I don't think I"ll be getting it anymore.
Regardless of the singing in the movie. Looks like it's already a hit worldwide. it's already making over 72 Mil in the state and over 140 Mil oversea and the movie only cost appx 60 mil to make.
Will we be seeing part 2 in the horizon?

This was a pretty good movie. Meryl Streep was excellent as usual. I already knew she could sing, so that didn't really surprise me, plus she is one of the best actresses ever, so of course she did excellent. Christine Baranski, Julie Waters, Stallen Skaarsgard, and Colin Firth all did very well. You could tell they were having a blast. Pierce Brosnan should not be allowed to sing. Ever. He did good in the acting portions, but his voice is terrible, which is why I'm hesitating on buying the whole soundtrack, save for a few songs. Dominic Cooper has a very nice singing voice, plus he's pretty hot as well. Amanda Seyfried blew me away with her beautiful singing voice. I have downloaded "Honey, Honey" and I cannot stop listening to it. All in all a very good movie, that was quite a bit of fun. I enjoyed it.

I saw this yesterday. It was ok. Merrill Streep is a wonderful actor but I wish that they would have picked people with stronger voices. I realize that this sounds strange, but I think that Olivia Newton John would have been a better pick for that part. And it was strange to see Pierce Bronson in a musical.

I originally thought that it was going to be similar to the Mamma Mia play but the story seemed like it was entirely different...which was a good thing.

Loved it. Even if the singing was not quite amazing... Loved the little gay element in the movie and of course, the music!

OMG... One of the best movies I have seen in a LOOOONNNNNNG time. Don't know if anyone else agrees, but Pierce Brosnan needs to be shot after his horrid attempts at actually singing. He butchered every song he opened his mouth during.

Favourite parts - Dancing Queen, Chiquitita, The Winner Takes It All, Does Your Mother Know and Take A Chance On Me (Julie Walters was HILARIOUS!!!)

Also, if you haven't, and yes I know this thread is about Mamma Mia!, go see The Dark Knight, you wont be disappointed.

The movie is beyond inane but at least it doesn't take itself too seriously. Still, it wasn't as much fun as I was hoping and there were some tedious stretches. The casting was bizarre, and Pierce Brosnan's singing probably elicited the biggest laughs from the audience. But worth seeing if only for the hotness that is Dominic Cooper (just wish he had a bigger part!)

Benny was the pianist during the Dancing Queen number and Bjorn had a cameo as a greek god during Waterloo at the ending credits....he's the one holding the harp looking instrument.

I just saw it. It was so awesome. Everyone sang all the big numbers and were dancing in the isles.

So awesome.

Sky was so HOT and the black guy too.
