Nonsense. Polls show that 60% or so oppose Obama care, presumably because they want to keep what they have. A majority have health insurance. With Obama care, those people will have to pay more for their own insurance PLUS pay for insurance for the rest, then wait in line as in socialist countries.
 
right so 60% equals ~180 of 300 million... so basically you are good with go fuck yourself to 120 million Americans?

Apparently that is the position of the republican party because they intend to kill Obamacare AND strip 1.7 trillion out of Medicaid.

Is health care more important than food, or clothing, or housing? No. But your argument for free health care at the expense of the minority paying income tax, could as easily be made for free food, clothing, shelter etc. We already have a hundred million receiving some form of welfare not including Social Security, and 47 million receiving food stamps, and millions more coming into the country every year. But there can never be enough welfare people for liberals. They cannot grasp the fact that communism and socialism do not work. The minority who pay taxes cannot be expected to carry the entire country, and the new ones coming in.

Refer to table 5 and you will see that the 5 year survival rates from cancer in the US are head and shoulders above the rest of the world in most categories. Which is wh y people come here from all over the world to receive care that they cannot get at home, and/or cannot get it in a timely manner.

Just for the record- based on your "convos" with others, I would just like to point out I refuse to have pointless, inane arguments with those allergic to evidence and actual rational thought. That being said, I will make a last ditch effort this once:
-Our posts are about health care SYSTEMS not about the health care that those that can afford it actually receive so, of course, access by the poor and average man is relevant.
-I love how you cherry-picked "5 year survival rates from cancer"... that seems rather specific... any reason you didn't go with say something a little more basic/standard like "life expectancy" or "infant mortality rates"... oh... that's right... but you fail on even focusing on health outcomes alone...

-Also, while I don't think its a big deal, don't you think it is a tad ironic that you criticize a "12 year old" source and then cite something using data from 1995-1999?
- Every respectable health economist would point out our health care system is not the best (in either outcomes or access) and study after study suggest this. I'm not even arguing Obamacare is the solution (though I personally think it puts us in the right direction), but ignoring this basic fact is absurd. Thus, the onus is on you to prove otherwise... that the OVERALL healthcare SYSTEM in the United States is the best in the world.

I do wish you a speedy recovery though... maybe you can see if iTunes has a Health Economics book on audio ;).
 
When a healthcare system is inaccessible for a huge part of a country's population, that's a disastrous system. It's really that fucking simple. When it's cheaper for me to fly over to Bulgaria and fix my teeth there - in the exact same quality of service by the way - than to do it here in Chicago where my health insurance supposedly covers the service, something is terribly wrong.

That was made so by the Bush Tax cuts... so lets let them expire and make the 20% he added to the Tax Free status back onto the rolls.

No we learned that despite all efforts to the contrary we found when the nation is listening and Romney is asked what he would do he then says.... "Exactly what the President is doing... except I will be a rich white guy from the red party"

I'm also glad that finally, no matter how the election turns out, that someone finally had the guts to call Romney out on the pathological lying that has marked his entire campaign.

And oh, boo hoo, the hand wringing nancies on FOX and their faithful followers will all be able to complain that the President is just a big meanie pants.
 
It is rather astonishing after calling the other side all kinds of names that the right should all of a sudden go boo hoo. It lacks character to play both sides of the street like that.
