Ya gotta love the email some people send with a straight face -- here's one that was sent to me as an "Alert" (they even asked me to spread it, so here you go!):

PepsiCo opposes resolution regarding donations to homosexual activist groups

April 17, 2009

Dear friend,

PepsiCo, one of the leading corporate promoters of the homosexual agenda, is opposing a shareholder resolution that requires it provide more information concerning its charitable contributions. The resolution will be voted on at the shareholders meeting May 6. The resolution reads:

* "Resolved: That the shareholders request the Company to provide a semiannual report...disclosing: the Company's standards for choosing which organizations receive the Company's assets in the form of charitable contributions; business rationale and purpose for each of the charitable contributions; personnel who participated in making the decisions to contribute; the benefits to the Company and beneficiaries produced by Company contributions; and a follow-up confirming that the organization actually used the contributions for the purpose stated."

As expected, PepsiCo opposes the resolution. AFA asked Pepsi to remain neutral in the culture war, but the company refused - choosing to support the homosexual agenda, including homosexual marriage.

The resolution was filed after it was discovered that PepsiCo gave a combined $1,000,000 to the Human Rights Campaign (the nation’s largest homosexual organization) and Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays to promote the homosexual lifestyle in the workplace.
Take Action!

I could rip into that in so many places, but I'l just slam two:

First, that resolution is a prescription for persecution of corporation employees by a minority of shareholders. Had I a chance to face them on the floor, I'd call the people proposing this anti-freedom, anti-American, and undeserving of the designation "Christian", since Jesus taught the Golden Rule, among other things.

Second, if you've read even a minuscule amount of what these folks put out, you'll know that their claim to want PepsiCo to be "neutral in the culture wars" is absurd: they want Pepsi (and all other major corporations) to sign on with their campaign for theocracy.

So, gentlemen (and ladies), I think it's time again to express our thanks to Pepsi for believing in "liberty and justice for all" (besides good marketing strategy)... and maybe send a bit of mail in the general direction of Don "Master Bigot" Wildmon, asking him if he thinks it's still the reign of Hezekiah, where "God's will" is to be written into law (or didn't he hear that there was this Savior named Jesus, of whom it was said, "For freedom He set us free...."?).

Wow. I'm going to email PepsiCo and remind them who's supporting who and thank them. I'm definitely going to reach for a Pepsi next time rather then a coke.

I'm with you there.

I used to find the AFA annoying; now they've been moved to "disgusting", verging on "vile".

I wish I was a church preacher -- I'd mention them in sermons as examples of the false righteousness that sends people to hell.

:rotflmao: "Judge not, lest ye be judged. My wrathful god will do that for me."

You are right though. They are a revolting, backward squad of self-serving bigots.

Who sent this to you? If it was a "friend," I'd suggest getting new friends.

This is a mailing list you have to subscribe to. I subscribe to this list for the same reasons I'm sure Kuli has and have received this same e-mail. I do this because I like to know what the bigots are up to and I try to show support where it is deserved, as PepsiCo does in this case.

Don Wildmon's group is truly disgusting and does all of this with the mask of "family", "traditional values", and other big conservative-loving buzz words within their messages to spread and encourage hatred. Only they don't call it this, it's anything but that. Fucking Bigots!!!!

I might just drop them a line as well.

I might be a Canadian citizen, and already have it pretty well off, if the AFA somehow succeeds in the US, it won't be long until they're giving Canadian faith based organizations tips on how to do it.

I would honestly like to meet some of these people, talk to them, and then laugh at their expression when I tell them I'm gay(am told I am very "straight" acting).

Shouldn't a group called "The American Family Association" be for gay marriage and human rights? Not wanting equal treatment for all is not very "family" like. It's just another one of those B.S. organizations that exist for no other purpose than to persecute gay people.

suddenly Pepsi products are so much more appealing than others....thanks, Pepsico!

Well, no, they also persecute those who want evolution taught, among others.

And they have supported some good things as well; IIRC, they have backed child care for working parents, and maternity leave.

They're just a group that thinks their definition of family is the only one, and anyone who disagrees should be... converted, I guess.
