Sadly they do. That's why it was a small scandal (small b/c it was Apple) because it kind of snuck Safari in there.

I just wanna report that late last night, Windows Update decided to update again. This morning, the updates revealed on opening Firefox that Microsoft is persisting in setting me up with their .NET Framework Assistant yet again, after I deleted the last lot.

Here's what the Add-On Manager reported:
(Square bracketted items [] represent buttons)

Microsoft .Net Framework Assistant 0.0.0
Adds ClickOnce support and the ability to report installed .NET Framework versions to the webserver.

This add-on will be updated when Firefox is restarted. [Cancel]

Clicking 'Cancel': [Disable] [Uninstall]

Clicking 'Uninstall' : Do you want to uninstall Microsoft .NET Framwork Assistant [Uninstall] [Cancel]

Clicking 'Uninstall' : This add-on will be uninstalled when Firefox is restarted. [Cancel]

Clicking 'Restart Firefox' on the Add-On Manager

Add-on is removed.

Ok, whereas the "fix" previously was to regedit, this one is more annoying. If you have several users on your computer, you have to edit each one separately. Since I've got 3 (one for me, one for work, and one for guests) that makes annoyance x 3.

It does. Also, when you update iTunes via "Apple Software Update", what do u know, u get a Safari web browser with it too which on top if it all is set as a "default" browser for your system

I get iTunes updates automatically, which gave me Safari and didn't even tell me.

Apparently Safari goes off and does things on its own, too, because suddenly crap from a neighbor's Xbox was showing up on my computer.

:grrr:
