Think about it for a minute. Who in their right mind would run for office to put up with nonsense of the media, for a measly $174,000 (Senate & House) per year? Sleazy ex-car dealer types... that's who.

The problem with republicans is that you look at their education history and it is a joke at best. Some of them didn't even go to college and half of them barely got a Bachelors. Democrats have their fair share of idiots too but until the Republican party stops putting up dumbasses (literally) for candidacy, I don't see them making a comeback anytime soon.

I could not agree more. Not even the Republican "analysts" (Hannity, Beck, O'Reilly, Linbaugh, etc.) have any degrees beyond high school.

I think they just had a major comeback this past November.

Just being dumbasses works pretty well for them.
 
Of COURSE she had to use campaign money for personal expenses. How else could she pay her bills? She hasn't had a real job in years. She just keeps running for office (and losing).

She made her bed, now she has to live with the consequences.

Thinking back....

of all the Republicans I knew at the start of college, the ones who went farthest and did best in education are all now Libertarians. To a great extent, they got tired of going to meetings or listening to candidates where a great deal of what passed for discourse was just plain ignorant.

Mostly because the people who really want to serve the public get skewered and ruined by all the forces who don't want virtue anywhere near the reigns of power.

That is kind of what happened to me. It was funny because my best friend in college was a staunch republican and I was a hardcore democrat. Somehow, by the end of our 4years, we both ended up as libertarian with him having right-wing tenancies and me leaning a bit left (mostly on social issues but that is probably due to gay vs straight).

I think most erudite people are libertarian; to not be one implies a misunderstanding in sociology and/or economic thought.

Attended Marist College, an honor student' spent his junior year at Queen Mary College at the University of London. Rec'd his BA in history in 1971 from Marist.

Later earned his MA in Journalism from Boston University.

After that earned a Master of Public Administration from Harvard's John F. Kennedy School of Government.

Libertarianism includes classical liberalism as well as much of classic conservatism, so it's not unlikely.

I still fail to grasp why so many libertarians are brain-dead inhumane iconoclastic radicals -- but then I fail to grasp why so many Republicans are bigots and why so many Democrats are snobs.
