I'm tolerant of just about everything bar stupidity and biggotry, something the latter-day saints movement has both of in spades. I've never claimed to be tolerant of self-righteous, prudish religious types, nor shall I ever, so there's no hypocricy here.

Any money spent on politics by a church should be taxable.

For that matter, any money spent by a church, and any enterprises owned or run by a church, without a religious or not-for-profit function, should be taxed.

I saw that study too. 8/10 of the biggest states for porn purchases are Republican states.

Oh, it's no surprise to me. In my last job there was nobody who's job it was to answer the phone so I spent a lot of time talking to people calling to place orders or get help with their memberships and I spoke with LOTS of guys from Utah.

They were always very nice but unhappy people. Kinda sad, really.

Well mormon's take it a step further. In addition to it's founder being a thief and a racist, each mormon thinks he's or she's a living god and that when he or she dies he'll or she'll get his own planet to rule. They also think Native Americans are descendants of Israelites despite unambiguous genetic evidence to the contrary.

The book of abraham also said Latin/North America had horses around Jesus' time. NOPE. No archaeological evidence has been found of that. El conquistadores aka the Spaniards brought horses to the new world.

In fact one prominent mormon spent his whole life seeking evidence to prove the validity of the cult's claims and he didn't find a shred of evidence. (This is actually too funny, I can post links if anyone doubts that rich mormon spent his life in vain looking for evidence to support the religion and ended up saying that the cult is good for companionship, lol).

So they've made it a habit lately to attack genetics as a field.

Catholicism has a rich heritage of scholarship; in addition, there's no way to become a priest without having a fairly sharp mind, and no way to become a bishop without a fairly sharp mind and a touch of scholarship. The ability to reason is highly valued -- just look at the Jesuits and the Benedictines.

The LDS has no real theology, no tradition of scholarship -- in fact they go to great efforts to fight scholarship, especially in the areas of ancient language and archaeology.
