What do you consider to be the most cherished toy from your childhood?

I really envy the kids of today - the toy market has really evolved since I was a kid :-({|=
Mind you that hasn't stopped me collecting the Lord Of the Rings & the Star Wars action figures.

I am always searching for stuff on e-Bay, to replace things that I had when I was a kid.

My most cherished toy has to be my "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang" car - still on display to this day - wish I still had the box and that my parents had never let me play with it, as they are worth a fortune mint.

Hey, when I was little...

just give me a box. A BIG box, like a washing machine or refrigerator box. Man, I had the wildest imagination. ;)

^I'd have to agree. In my opinion all the toys kids play with these days are pieces of crap. Where's the imagination?

My favourite toy was lego. Lots of fun playing with my brother, building stuff, playing games with our creations etc. Now days however i'm obsessed with my younger brother's old teddy bear. I keep it save from his torment, but i don't play with it. Much. *shifty eyes*

Great Question and good nostalgia.....

My favorite was this thing that was some kind of electric hot plate that you put this stuff called goop in and it made rubbery creepy things like spiders and skeletons....I cant remember the name of it.
(possibly creepy crawlers)

There was also Cudley Dudley which the big box it came in was also a space ship.....

Also could play for hours with Hot wheels cars....Had tons of them.....
:=D: (!) :=D:

I had a very nice Lionel train set. It was a first quality, heavy train. The train ran on an electric track and had cars. It would light up a smoke just like a real train. I played with that set for years. I still have it, and wish I could get it fixed and find parts for it.

ACTION MAN with 'eagle-eyes', 'gripping hands', 'realistic hair', and 5,000 fabulous uniforms.

And I've been looking for someone to fill his shoes ever since!

Legos!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I used to have so much fun building all sorts of things with them. I still have all my legos too.......in two 66 gallon storage totes in the basement!

Before age 8, it was record players. I destroyed quite a few, but as far as I was concerned then, if someone asked me what I wanted to play, the obvious answer was, "Records!"

After that, I grew up a bit. Legos and Erector Set were the clear favorites.

my legos are all put together on this little display in my closet... i love them so much i could never take them apart....

the legos are probably number 1 a close 2nd is this teddy bear i still have that i got when i was 3 its so cute cause its as big as i was when i was 3 i loves it so...

Ah, Creepy Crawlers. I had "Creeple People" too, and used the good stuff on making one for my dad's office. He still has it somewhere.

But -- my favorite? Lego, yeah yeah yeah, BUT DO NOT TOUCH MY:

Super Spirograph! Drugs were in the air, what can I say.

My favorite was Big Wheels. I used to wear those things out and my parents kept buying new ones for me.

If a pool is considered a toy....I guess I would have to say that I used that one the most.

Legos and Matchbox Cars, and then Hot Wheel Cars. I would pretend I was someone famous (IE: the lead singer of 3 Dog Night) and have this fantastic house (with hidden rooms) and great cars! Actually, now that I think of it, I was caught by security stealling Hot Wheels from the local department store (2 Guys), I cried so much that they let me go without telling my parents.

When I was a kid, I had a Felix The Cat doll. It got old and raggedy and came apart. I was devastated. Everybody in my family went out looking for one in three states and no one ever found him.

Through the modern technology of the internet, I was able to find one exactly like the one I had. It was made by a company called Gund and it was actually stuffed with straw. So it only cost me $350 to get back my most precious toy!

I'm 52 years old and I still have my most cherished childhood toy. My parents had gone to France with a museum group in 1959 and one of the things they brought back for me was beautiful hand carved and painted clown that stands on a 3" wheel that had a groove in it and two long weighted balancing arms out on each side. The grooved wheel fits on a wire and you can make him roll from one end to the other and he balances perfectly.

Even after 45+ years I still love that thing, but it is rarely touched and is kept locked up in a display case. It's something I will leave to one of my grand nephews one day.

I don't still have it, i wish i did though. it was a hand pupet of a "bird" without wings. It was purple on one side and green on the other with an orange beak and legs. his name was muffey. he went to the hospital with me every time i went (which was a lot).
