Most Cherished Toy from Childhood

Mine would be 2 of my stuffed animals... a brown teddy bear and a penguin... I had both from birth (one from my uncle, and one from my mom). I still have them :)... although they are in my closet somewhere.

Bi Married Male, I had one of those Creepy Crawler mold things too, as well as the old PlayDough Factory, amd an old Woodburning craft kit, and a chemistry set and microscope. I'm not sure whatever happened to those either. I mean I'm sure the PlayDough I just grew tired of, and I think I ran out of the Creepy Crawler goup so that was just shelved. The chemistry set I think got taken away because my mom didn't like the smell of the chemicals. The microscope I recall playing with for a long time though looking at flys and hairs and things. I think I had it even when puberty began because I remember looking at pubes and cum under the microsope. But I don't know whatever became of it either.

It sounds like the three of us grew up in the same neighborhood!!

I also loved my Tonka trucks. I don't know how many I had, but my favorite was a Ford Pick-up with a matching power boat and trailer. I still recall going to the store with my brothers and my Dad to pick them out.

I also loved my Erector sets, and color-by-number paint sets.

My Teddy Rupskin. Oh how I loved him.

Teddy Ruxpin... I LOVED that show. One of my favourites growing up. I never did get the Stuffed Animal of him though...

I'm reviving this thread for Christmas.

Toys I received for Christmas that I still have are: Spirograph, microscope, kaleidoscope, View-master with the original reels, a shortwave radio.

I remember a big metal truck with doubled as a kennel for dogs. On the back of the truck was plastic covering with clear plastic doors that opened and shut, and in each compartment there was a different breed of dog. I never could tell if the driver of the truck was a dog catcher or a driver for a dog show. In any case, my younger cousin used to play with it more than me. When I went off to college, I gave it to him. I still think about it. I had always kept it clean and shiny, and washed all the dogs. I've thought of it over the years and wondered if he still had it. I saw him at my mom's funeral last year and reminded him of it and asked him if he still had it. He had no idea what I was talking about... So much for that...

Remember the paint by number sets that were so fun back then... Jigsaw puzzles and board games... BIG ACTIVITY Coloring Books... A new box of 64 crayons with the sharpener on the back of the box. Everyone would take each crayon out one by one to see what the names of the colors were... Sierra Red, Coffee Brown...etc...

I had a stuffed frog when I was a kid that I inevitably named Kermit. It wasn't an actual Kermit doll, but just a big stuffed frog that came from my Uncle Gene, a man I admired my entire life. Even moreso than my own father.

I kept that frog clear into my teens. Always kept it on my bed, long after my Uncle died (he died fairly young of cancer, like my father did, it seems to run rampant in my family).

Well one day I came home from work (when I still lived at home) and Kermit was gone. My mom had gotten drunk that day and had set out ALL of my stuffed animals on a table outside and held herself a little yard sale while I was away. Kermit was gone. I was crushed. She KNEW he was my favorite stuffed animal and why. I even went knocking on doors around the neighborhood asking people if they'd picked up that frog at a yard sale down the street, but I never found him. Mostly because I stopped in the middle of my search, I didn't go to all of the houses because after I thought about it, it dawned on me that a child probably had Kermit by now and would be heartbroken to have him taken away.

So I gave up.

To this day I want him back. And it's not just because he was my favorite. But he was my favorite because he came from the one and only man I adored my entire childhood.

:(

Mine was a snowcone machine, a little hand powered thingy that you drop icecubes into and turn them into snow, then sprinkle on syrup. I LOVED that thing!

Also had a printing press. So cool!

I had a very nice Lionel train set. It was a first quality, heavy train. The train ran on an electric track and had cars. It would light up a smoke just like a real train. I played with that set for years. I still have it, and wish I could get it fixed and find parts for it.

Lionel train parts can be found everywhere. Try Ebay and Trainz.com.

I love my Lionel trains. I still have all of mine. I loved my large trucks, too. And, the Viewmaster. That was a world in itself.

My Marie Antoinette and guillotine set. I only used it once.
That may be your best line ever! :=D:
Was that not a quote from Wednesday (Christina Ricci's character) said to her brother, Pugsley, before attempting to recreate the beheadding of Louis XVI; from from the First "Addams Family" movie starring Angelika [sp] Houston, Raoul Julia and Christopher Lloyd?

Of course I could be wrong...

Anywho, I might be jealous seeing as I had never received My Sanderson sisters' Hanging Set.... ;) :help:

I think the oldest toy I have from my childhood is a Fisher-Price Jack and Jill TV/Radio that's about 40 years old. It's actually a windup music box. You wind it up and it plays "Jack and Jill" and a scene slowly revolves around the little window showing Jack and Jill going up a hill, fetching water, and then Jack and Jill tumbling down a hill... It still plays music, the scenes still turn slowly, and the music box itself looks very much like the condition of the one in the picture below. The second picture is the same toy in mint condition.
