Patrick07....Ichi the Killer was on Showtime Extreme last summer...that was incredibly violent and over the top as far as blood and guts...good one. Same director as "Audition."

House of 1000 corpses, and The devils rejects were both probablty the most disturbing movies i've ever seen, i thougt about them constantley for like a week!!

I would also say Monster. That movie was absolutely breathtaking. Everything it won, it deserved.

I absolutely agree. It was compulsive viewing for me and even when I wanted to change channels, to skip through some uncomfortable moments, I just couldn't. Though, I don't think it would have been as good had Charlize Theron not played the lead.

Some others on here have mentioned Silence Of The Lambs which is one of my all-time favourite movies. Scared the hell out of me first time I saw it but I think that's probably why I love it so much.

anybody seen a movie called "Nowhere"? it's been playing this month on IFC. it was somewhat disturbing how odd it was. couldn't even begin to give a synopsis. movie had a lil something for everyone i think. 1/2 naked guys(including Ryan Phillippe), angry drag queens and alien abductions!!! even a little bit of man-on-man love with a not-so-happy ending.

i can say that i'm glad that i wasn't watching it buzzed. probably would've fucked with my head.

stars: James Duval, Rachel True, Scott Caan, Ryan Phillippe, Christina Appelgate and several odd cameos fromRose McGowan, Shannen Doherty, Traci Lords and more.

I did a quick scroll through all the posts in this thread and I couldn't see Ken Russell's The Devils with Oliver Reed and Vanessa Redgrave mentioned anywhere. Does anyone remember it? I certainly do. I was about 18 when it was released here in Australia in 1972. It was given an 'R' rating, and all advertising for the movie here had to show a warning. I can't remember the exact wording now, but the gist of it went something like this ....

"The Devils" is not a film for everyone. It tells of hideous events that allegedly occurred in France in the 17th century ..... several scenes in the film are visually shocking and deeply disturbing ..... Viewer discretion is advised.

Being 18 and of curious and somewhat warped mind, I had to go see it ... and I don't think I had a good night's sleep for about a week afterwards!!!

Another movie that I don't think has been mentioned yet and which I also found pretty disturbing was Agnes of God, starring Jane Fonda.

Many Jubbers have mentioned The Exorcist .... definitely a classic in the 'most disturbing movie ever' category. When it was first screened in Perth (where I was living at the time) back in the 70's, the theatre where it was showing had to employ a St John Ambulance officer to be present at every screening because so many people were either fainting or being physically sick while watching it!

Eraserhead.

But I'll be the first to admit I stay away from disturbing movies...

I just mentioned "The Devils" to a friend yesterday. I find it more fascinating than disturbing, but I have an affinity for Ken Russell films.

The most disturbing movie I have seen recently was "Notes on a Scandal." Judy Dench's character was creepier than Hannibal Lecter.

Dancer In The Dark.

If we're talking about something that actually disturbed me, rather than just disturbing imagery.

I'd go with GLITTER....

that was distrubing to imagine that somepeople actually invested on that movie ....

and disturbing to see Carey as an actress so to speak ...
