Movies That Truely Scared You

a lot of interesting movies brought up in this thread. I'm with nacreous, for instance, in putting the original "The Haunting" up towards the top. I've been shaken and stirred by many of the other movies I've seen mentioned here, while others have unerwhelmed me (Harke, I'm pretty sure I walked out of "event horizon" before it was over. not because it was too scary. it just wasn't working for me).

I (also) walked out on THE EXORCIST, right after Linda Blair's head turned 360*. Just didn't need to see it. I also walked out, early, in THE EVIL DEAD II right after the pencil-through-the-heel scene. I tortured high school (girl) friends with the original "friday the 13th".

I would add to the list a '70's movie with Oliver Reed called "Burnt Offerings." IT was sort of in the "The Haunting" vein. the creepiest stuff was off-screen an unseen.
 
Ah a thread that I'm interested in...I agree with most of the movies listed on here, except "IT" because it was scary up until he turned into...a giant spider? I think the only movie that truly scared me was the original Halloween...haunted me forever.
 
I don't scare very easily but the old classic horror movies can scare me a bit. I was traumatized as a child by Bloody Mary. I love Silent Hill but the one part that sends shivers down my spine is the alarm that goes off signaling all hell is about to break loose, literally.
 
When I was a kid "Fire In The Sky" scared the living hell out of me. I saw it on ABC in the summer and could not sleep for days after that. All the sounds from outside made me believe that the aliens were coming for me.

I'm also with bbroxxors on the remake of "War of the Worlds." I got such a fucking panic attack from that film. It was just way too realistic for me and I did not expect the tripods to come out of the ground and vaporize people into dust.

The other film that gave me a panic attack was "The Mist." It was the beginning scene when the mist started to roll in and everyone was panicing. I actually got up to go buy some water. When I went back into the theater there were silly monsters attacking the people so I was fine.

I'm currently watching silent hill and its sending chills up my spine. It's not scary, just creepy.
 
Nothing has ever truely scared me. Some movies have made me paranoid. Such as the grudge which made me reluctant to go into an attic. lol
 
I just finished watching the origianl Fog today. While the movie didnt freak me out, The scene where Adriene Barbeau was being chased on top of the lighthouse gave mwe the creeps!!!!

Ah, that was the first truly scary movie I saw and I was about the same age as you when you saw it. Zombies always get me because I think that shit like that can happen, at least at a greater probability than ghosts, vampires, etc. Another scary movie is "Outbreak," about a killer virus outbreak. That shit can happen too.

Against my better judgement I decided to watch Night Of Living Dead tonite. I was at the spot where Barbara was heading up the stairs and saw the half eaten dead body, Just at that time my window shade decided to roll up and hit the window. Scared the chit outa me, so after I let my stomach back in I watched the rest of it. It still creeps me out to this day!!!!!!!
