Hi guys,

I watched "Far From Heaven" with Dennis Quaid and Julianne Moore recently.

I am interested in movies where a married man/father discovers he is homosexual.

The films don't have to be American. Russian/European movies are welcome and even preferred because usually they treat the subject with much more openness (especially French cinema).

Thank you for your help in advance

Michael Ontkean --mmmmmmm always considered him a VERY handsome man (!)

Have two for you.

The first was a British TV movie I saw years ago on PBS called "The lost language of cranes" about a young man who comes out to his parents which eventually prompts the young mans father to come out as well, much drama ensues.

The second was a film I recently saw on LOGO called "Mulligans" about a college student who goes back home to spend summer break with his family. He brings his best friend from school with him who then has a secret affair with his friends father, much drama ensues.

Hope that helps.

I never get that, that's why I think everyone must be bi, how can you be married, have kids and then "find out" you're gay?

if women got your rocks off beforehand so you're not gay, you're bi.

"Making Love" with Michael Ontkean and Harry Hamlin was considered VERY controversial in its day. Today, it seems tame.

It's tame, but the scene where Kate Jackson smashes the plates is seriously emotional and very compelling. If you haven't seen it yet, do so.

Mulligans was good.

I had a crush on Michael Ontkean. I remember his movie and Hal Holbrooks film.

I even bought the movie Slap Shot because he was in it. And I live where it's sunny and warm most of the year...I have no idea what's going on in a hockey game.

He was also the sheriff on the TV series Twin Peaks.

Hey guys,

Does anyone know foreign films with this topic?

I feel european films have treated this subject in more depth and with more kissing / nudity.

The earliest one I'm aware of is "That Certain Summer". a 1972 TV Movie starring Martin Sheen, Hal Holbrook and Hope Lange.

Lange arrives to visit her ex-husband (Sheen) and discovers he and Holbrook are now partnered.

It won a number of awards, including a Golden Globe for best TV movie.

making Love was the first time I had ever seen anything gay on the big screen. The movie really did me in back then. I just saw the Mulligans on Logo, which was really good. Also so the one you were talking about. Can't say I have seen any others with this subject matter.
