Mozilla CEO doesn't support gay marriage

That SOB's contribution to the Prop-8 Mormon hate group for Christ and magic underwear wasn't only a single $1,000 donation. He contributed many thousands to other homophobic, right-wing, whack-job politicans and hate mongers.
 
If you boycott Firefox because of the Brendan Eich connection, you should also boycott all browsers that support Javascript. To do otherwise would be hypocritical given that Eich created the JavaScript.

It should be no surprise that such a character as Eich wrote it. I keep it turned off as much as possible.

My point is that both extreme groups work the same way --- hate, uncompromising, boycotts, etc. They use the same tactics.

If this man had declined to accept an invitation to a wedding of two guys because he thought their marriage was unnatural or ungodly or just uninteresting, fine. That's his personal choice. I wouldn't welcome him into my social circles but that's pretty much his business and his problem.

But he went beyond exercising his personal choice, by trying to twist and distort the law to impose his personal choice on others. That makes him a dangerous bigot to be contained. You don't compromise with people like that, and that doesn't make us "hateful" of "extremist." It makes us people of integrity who refuse to be second class citizens. Getting him fired by pointing out his lack of integrity is totally legitimate.

Many Jews still boycott Ford and Krups. Actually, no one I knew growing up had a Ford car or truck.

Do you really think Ford hasn't hired marketing companies to develop market segments based on every possible consumer characteristic? Do you really think Ford wouldn't be conscious of its "marketing challenges" in certain segments?

I don't know how big this particular "marketing challenges" is ….or was (I know some people hold onto grudges for decades)

As to Alnitak's post, i am assuming they do not buy Fords, because he was an ardent supporter of Hitler. Until the outbreak of the war. He allowed Hitler to keep all profits from Fords sold in Germany, also on Hitlers birthday he used to send him a very generous cheque.
 
^ I didn't know that. I knew Aldous Huxley gave prominence to Ford in 'Brave New World'.

I assume Ford, like all US and Australian car-makers, is failing because Asians are prepared to work for slave wages.
 
And this has what exactly to do with support, or lack of when the topic is quite plainly about a powerful man using his influence to try and change laws he was not in agreement with?

Shouldn't Jews hate VW, Mercedes, Bayer, etc. Where do you get the energy to do all the research to make your hate list?

It is indeed a roughly century-old boycott. At its height in the 1920s, Ford was forced to apologize and stop distributing his anti-Semitic blurbs, The International Jew, but Henry Ford influenced and reinforced anti-Semitism in Nazi Germany. One must understand that in the Jewish community with anything related to the Holocaust old grudges die hard, or anyway never die completely.
