MR Boehner, WHERE ARE THE JOBS?

and thank you too for correcting me in such a polite and positive manner -- very refreshing.

Thanks for the nice words, Buttercup.(*8*) And WELCOME to the forum. It's nice to see a rational, sensible JUB poster join in CE&P.

Soon you'll get to know the regulars and what they think.

and now they want to strip away medicare, social security, department of education, energy, etc. is that really responsible?

Dismantling the Dept. of Ed. would be an improvement. So would dismantling Energy, but that would be a trickier proposition not best done overnight. Heck, I wouldn't shut down Ed. overnight; it takes time to sort out what functions can just be ended and what spun off, and then where to spin things to.

Perhaps just the fact that the Republicans re-took the House gave enough sense of relief to those that ACTUALLY hire people and create jobs may explain the drop in unemployment....

There's a sounder argument that when people who have historically driven up debt take over, companies get cautious because they don't know what the fools will do to the country's fiscal soundness.

As for hiring and creating jobs, the evidence is that the tax rates on the wealthy could go up a long ways and not harm that, and that in the realm they are now, any further cuts won't go to jobs at all -- and a number of billionaires admit that.

You want to create jobs, you cut the taxes on the middle class and less: historically, that results in jobs, because those are the people who use the additional money to buy things, and someone has to make those things.

The only rich entities which are likely to create more jobs if their taxes are cut are corporations. So we should cut taxes on purely domestic companies to zero.

The only good thing Republicans did in the past 25 years was........

....wait....

I can't think of anything.

Twenty-five... well, the Bush cuts for the bottom brackets were a good thing.

^ The ROTFLMAO smilie is more appropriate for thinking that our illustrious Prez had anything to do with creating a job...

He hasn't been in long enough to make a claim of indirect jobs, i.e. created through economic policy. Though he does get credit for temporary jobs via the stimulus.

what aspect of Republican ideology led you to think that they'd be passing legislation to hand out money and create jobs out of thin air?

the GOP would argue that things like repealing Obamacare and limiting the size of the federal government are spurring private industry to create jobs.

they may argue that but they have no legtimate argument to make. they too promised jobs -- where are they? They have an equal responsibilty to govern -- where are they? Oh, they're off looking for the President's birth certificate. Pitiful and shameful bunch.

People who really believe that Congress can write legislation and give people jobs are pathetic. And people who vote for people who promise to give them a job are also pathetic.
I'm inclined to agree. It's not the role of government to create jobs for people, but it should be fostering a positive job growth environment by giving special tax incentives to companies who stop outsourcing. They should be saying hire people here and we'll cut your corporate rates.
