Mr. Trump does not bring out the best in anybody [SPLIT]

As I said, I heard it on the news this morning. I can't link to a radio news report. But the '10 million' you found is very close.

Yeah, I hate that when I hear things on the news that aren't on the broadcaster's web site.

But if the two numbers are correct, that would mean only one million U.S. jobs are dependent on exports from here to Canada. I suppose given the ratios of population, that's not improbable at all.

Invisible economy income rarely rises to even the poverty level, so being in the invisible economy just reduces how much of a drag they are. For that matter, millions of jobs in the visible economy are a drag on the economy because they don't pay enough to free workers from reliance on government programs.

Trump could adjust that equation drastically by getting a tax reform passed that adjusts corporate taxes dependent on how many of their workers rely on government assistance, making the economy more honest (by reducing tax rates, primarily -- and requiring any savings to be passed on to the customer).

The reason its called the invisible economy is because we don't know the details, except that such a black market functions well during periods of full employment that is currently being enjoyed by the United States with an unemployment rate of 4.7 pct per December, 2016 figures.

I'm not second guessing Trump's measures for I am a wait, and see person who values actions, over words....

Millions? I don't think so.

On this morning's news, they said 9 million jobs in 35 states according to Canadian financial experts. Canada has been preparing for Trump's inauguration since the election to minimise the damage. We're very aware of what Trump can and might do to us. And we're not the only country in the world who is getting ready.

By the way, this report, posted today, indicates that 40,000 jobs in the automotive industry alone are at risk. That doesn't count the jobs that could be lost here in Canada.

With the inauguration of president-elect Donald Trump less than a week away, nearly 40,000 workers in the automotive sector across North America could be on the chopping block, according to a new report.

A memo outlining the policy goals of the incoming president’s administration indicated that Trump would begin reforming NAFTA on Day 1.

And that's just the automotive industry. We're not the only ones aware of what Trump is doing. He thinks he's making America great again, but he seems to be tearing apart brick by brick.

What an incredible idiot. Tariffs between neighbors?

The only reform NAFTA needs is to open up trade throughout North America even more freely, not the opposite. There should also be rewards for moving jobs from Asia to North America, not penalties if those jobs go to Canada or Mexico.

The imbecilic thing about this is that it's long been known that prosperous neighbors mean more trade which means increased prosperity at home.

The next imbecilic thing about it is that we should be following the example of President Monroe and doing everything we can to show the rest of the hemisphere that the U.S. is a friend... not a pest. Sure, jobs in the U.S. should get the most rewards, then jobs in our immediate neighbors, but there should be lesser rewards for having jobs in the Caribbean and Central America, and then South America, rather than in Asia.

Trump showed everyone which of their friends and family are crazy extremists, and which ones are more level-headed.
And I mean crazy extremists on both sides of the political spectrum. Each side acted like wild animals after Trump got elected.

I rest my case.

He thinks he's making America great again, but he seems to be tearing apart brick by brick.
The closer the USA model resembles that of Equatorial Guinea, the "greater" the USA becomes, in his mind. It "makes America great again" for him and his family and cronies, who would become the first trillionaires in the world, if he gets his wishes. It doesn't matter how many millions of people die, as long as he gets all their wealth as well. He loves the idea of an absolute totalitarian kleptocracy, where ALL wealth flows to those in power.

Equatorial Guinea is per-capita one of the richest countries in the world, and The People have...NOTHING...and live in extreme deprivation.

Nonsense. Your claims about his thinking are totally fictitious.
The US still has the 6th highest median income after some small countries. It is nothing like your Guinea. If it has declined blame Obama; every poor immigrant lowers the median.
Your zero sum economics are just wrong; wealth does not cause poverty.

Read Frank's post again. I says NOTHING about the US being like Equatorial Guinea. He says it's Trump's dream to be like Equatorial Guinea where the powerful have all the wealth and everyone else has nothing.

Not only do you twist the words of your quotes and links, you twist our words as well.

And here's me thinking it was toothless yokels and their faith-based grasp of science. Explains why California is so backward and poor. Northern California especially.

Stupidity and greed causes poverty quite reliably.

watch the short vid....and especially the comments of his slimy lawyer beginning at 0:35

Remember how he said not to do it, "because I'm going to bring this country together"?

I think his feet are stuck in the starting blocks.
