I am so sorry! You and your mum are in my thoughts. I send best wishes your way!

I am with you, SW... I had to call the ambulance for my dad a little more then a month ago, and he is still in hospital, with no release date in view...(*8*)

I know how your feeling. my mom goes through the same thing. Its really strange to deal with and you can sometimes feel completely numb from it. All you can do is be there for her. I wish you both the best mate, Stay strong k :)

Hopefully it all turns out well.

It is always hard when we see our parents so fragile.

(*8*)

I'll keep you and your family in my thoughts. Take care, babe.

All I can offer is my strength and caring and one of these: (*8*)

Know that you are alone here.

Oops.

We know this is what was intended.

Thanks folks, one and all for your words of strength and kindness. I am passing it on to her.

I did manage to talk to her when she was lucid, she was able to understand and be understood so, not a stroke as such.

I left her at 7 this evening as she was still sedated in the medical assessment ward. Today, I've seen her fitting four times, three at the hospital, and was told there were more.

She's inturbated with a breathing pipe and all hooked up to drips.

It was distressing to see her in such a state. From a long talk with the doc, her former stroke may have a contributing factor, but also some electrolyte imbalance too.

She'd not been drinking properly or eating a great deal of late, but this morning she was bright alert and cheerful, compared to the last week of morose inward looking melancholia. I'm too agitated to rest unfortunately...

Does it feels better if you imagine your mum is someone else like Nancy Reagan or Margaret Thatcher or some old lady that looks like your mum ? :)

No, no one else is like my mum. At least, the post-stroke afflicted mum I cherish. She used to be quick witted, with a sharp tongue. She changed to someone who couldn't finish the sentence she was speaking because the stroke robbed her of the ability to find the words to say. Even though, she still has a wicked sense of humour despite the stroke. She would enjoy your preoccupation with pee and poop, Telstra.

A slightly bizarre question.

On the other hand, it sounds like star-warrior's mum is a lady NOT for turning. [-X

Big cuddles for our star-warrior! (*8*)

I hope that she receives good care in hospital, and will be back home soon. :)
