  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

Mum is ill again.

A slightly bizarre question.

On the other hand, it sounds like star-warrior's mum is a lady NOT for turning. [-X

offtopic:

Big cuddles for our star-warrior! (*8*)

I hope that she receives good care in hospital, and will be back home soon. :)

I don't normally come to the thread just to say "get well soon".
It would be abit boring. :)

Star, so sorry to hear of your Mom's illness.

I hope it turns out well. (*8*)

Oh, crikey! Sorry to hear the bad news, bud. The best thing you can do right now is keep calm (not easy, I know) and be there for her.

My thoughts are with you both (*8*)

Really sorry to hear about your mum. My thoughts and prayers are with you, your mum and your dad... (*8*)

The ambulance have just taken her to A&E, she's unresponsive, and the inital assessment is she may have had another stroke. I'm not sure what to do as I'm still in shock.

I am sorry to hear this. I send best wishes to you and your family.

Remember to take care of yourself too.

Sorry about this Star. I lost my mom 2 years ago today. Sending you love and good vibes.

No, no one else is like my mum. At least, the post-stroke afflicted mum I cherish. She used to be quick witted, with a sharp tongue.

Typical Chinese mum. Keep us updated, k?

Very sorry about your troubles with your mom, SW. It's very difficult to see one's parents who were strong enough to raise us in such a fragile state. I'll keep you both in my prayers. Take care of yourself.

The nursing staff have told me what will happen. She's still in her sleepy state, occasionally opening her eyes but unable to speak. I'm not sure she understands, but, whilst I was at the hospital, I showed her photos of our family and the kids whom she adores, her eyes opened to see each one, but no flicker of a smile from her. This saddened me most, but I do hope in her hazy ability to open her eyes when spoken to, that she still had the ability to see and recognise each one.

She's had no more seizures since yesterday night, thankfully. Her kidneys have packed in completely. The doctors mentioned that she no longer digests food in her stomach, and being an insulin dependent diabetic, her state will be dictated by her blood sugar levels. Once it falls below a critical value, she will go into a coma and eventually she will pass on in a peaceful way.

Thank you for the update, as difficult as it must have been to both hear and write.

I tend to believe that she knows you're with her, though. As bad off as my own mother was, she knew I was there with her, and I know that for a fact. Your mum knows, too.

She definitely will hear you, and even if she can't understand you, she will recognize your voice. It must be really difficult to watch a loved one in a state like this. I wish you and your family great strength .
