I get songs in my head that can come and go all day---not so much first thing in the morning--but sometimes in the middle of the night if I can't sleep

Same here. Sometimes it annoys me so much that I sing a different song to force me to change.
I've talked about it with other musicians and looks like it's quite common among us. The worst example I know of was a friend who told me he could hear two different tunes simultanously. That must be hell

Haunted by a song from the cruisebar last night...

The text is from the Juliane Werding song Am Tag als Conny Kramer starb. It seems in German Conny can be a guy's name too.

I see. The song is about a friend who became addicted to drugs and died. The melody is from The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down. Hardly her best, but the house version is outright haunting in a backroom of a cruisebar of a city infamous for being the former drug capital of Europe.
