To put it on (HipHop) Terms. I see Adam Lambert being the 50 cent of the two. 50 Cent was the talk of the town back in 2002/2003 and was incredibly hyped, he had hit singles and awesome record sales. That soon faded over the years and it will happen to Adam Lambert. Adam might sell more records than Kris Allen but he won't be the long term artist. Ya get what im saying? Kris Allen is kind of the Ti or Kanye West in my theory. I don't remember either of them being hyped the way 50 Cent was but both of them have proved in my opinion to be more succesful than 50 cent. Hell both won a buttload of awards which include grammies. In the end both Adam Lambert and Kris Allen will be successful but I actually see Kris making it farther. All this Adam hype will die down in a few years you'll see
 
well first of all if adam lasts a few years thats great for a singer nowadays, and personally i dont see kris lasting past his first album,unless its a smash hit,which is doubtful,and also adam is very versatile(no pun intended) so he could switch things up try different genres and still be successful,while kris is pretty much a one act....
 
^^ I agree. Unless Kris can pull of something unique and not fit in with the common sound of singer/songwriters, I don't see him lasting past his first record. BUT, there's usually a follow-up album, regardless of whether the first is successful. We'll just have to wait and see. It's way too early to make these kind of judgements.
 
the only American Idol star who has had staying power is Kelly Clarkson. I see Adam Lambert and Kris Allen no different than all the other AI winners and runners up.

Ok, Clay Aiken had staying power too, but he isn't doing anything right now.

nice try, but i'm not the one making predictions.. the o/p posted this EXACT same post in the AI thread yesterday.. creating new threads to repeat the same thing over and over again wont change what the future holds..

Kris is the one who can do Pop/R&B and even a lil bit of country.

Carrie Underwood is actually the more successful winner, I'd say.

Clay is about to record his 6th album. He's had several guest spots on TV in April and May including the season finale of 30 Rock. A few weeks ago he was in Los Vegas as the Special Guest for David Foster's huge "Hitman" concert.

This is true. Kelly Clarkson has seriously lost her momentum, the shocking weight gain isn't helping. Her last 2 CDs are disappointing and touring with Reba McIntyre didn't do anything to help.
 
What the hell? Kelly seems to have bounced back as of late! I love her last 2 singles

He holds the record for the best first week sales of a debut album among all AI albums and for the fastest selling Christmas Album in the Soundscan Era, which is since 1991. I saved this chart of all AI debut album first week sales from a blog that tracks these things.

Really the ones with star power (music and beyond) are Kelly Clarkson, Clay Aiken, Jennifer Hudson, Carrie Underwood, and Chris Daughtry. It will be interesting to see Jordin Sparks, David Cook, and David Archuletta's sophomore albums.

Sales wise, Kelly still trumps because she has the international appeal. Her and Carrie are only 100s of albums apart, so technically they are the most successful idols. HOWEVER, Jordin Sparks is 3rd because of her single sales. She's had huge hits. Only time will tell. David Cook outsold Archuleta, deservingly, and Clay fizzled out. So Kelly and Carrie will always be competing for the title of best selling Idol, because they're so close in sales and have mass appeal. When Carrie releases her 3rd effort, she'll outsell Kelly, and when Kelly has her 4th, she'll outsell Carrie, etc. They're two of Idols best success stories, and I don't see anyone surpassing them anytime soon. But I don't think Kris will come close, either. I think he'll sell well, but be left in the dust. But, if he does something great like he did with Heartless, then he has a big chance. Adam, on the other hand, I see being more as a Jennifer Hudson type.
 
So Adam ^^^will be a Oscar winner? LOL Also Kris is the 8th winner, there's no way he can match Carrie or Kelly in sales. LOL unless he has huge hits or Arkansas buys his albums. I know im getting one. Kris can definitely pass Fantasia,Ruben,Taylor and Jordin in his debut album though. Key word is CAN!

uh actually adams best performances were his slow songs like mad world and tracks of my tears....

hes ok with rock but id rather see him do pop.
 
its true about jordin sparks she is actually pretty successful in todays music scene here album went platinum, she had 3 smash hits from the album, and toured with some big acts,id call that success, in pop today you cant sell 4million cds only if its a country album you can or a rock album with longevity,who can remember the last pop album that sold 5million cds?
