His lactic acid was 8.4 outta ten, I dunno what that means but doc said he's supposed to be a five. He works in a really humid environment and sweats a lot, I'd always assumed that being health-conscious he would take in plenty of fluids but he was hospitalized last night for dehydration. I'm more mad than I've let on, been playing nurse all day but quietly I'm boiling that he could be so careless about his well-being, and all for a job that would replace him before the doctor even calls time of death.

This isn't my first experience, a guy I dated for 7 years was a diabetic and HIV+ so he had even more reason to be health-conscious. He worked a physically taxing job and bent over backwards to get shit done at the expense of his health. He'd work most of his shift without eating and take his lunch towards the end. I believe he even took lunches after the legally-required 6th hour and edited his time punches to make it look like he was in compliance. He passed out several times at work and the attitude was. "Meh, get him to the hospital. So who do we have that can cover his area?" He was a pushover and employers take advantage of that, playing on low-level employee fears that if they don't work their fingers to the bone they'll be replaced.

Not.

A.

Bitch.

Like.

Me.

I takes ALL my breaks and lunches and would never put my health in jeopardy for some big corp. My guy isn't a pushover or anything so I dunno what was goin on in his head to be so careless. Anywho, heat strokes can be very serious so I'm glad he came out unscathed.

Your health comes first. Always.

Having had heat stroke on two occasions....I would also counsel everyone to be very careful.

It isn't pleasant.

Glad he's okay, poor sod.

he's in good hands

Maybe he just needed a night away?

We have had an unusually hot summer here in the UK and instances of heat stroke and dehydration have soared. We just aren't used to having to re-hydrate so assiduously
