I am the oldest of 4 brothers in my family. When we were growing up, they really looked up to me. One of them also turned out to be gay. For years we didn't get along because I blamed myself for him being gay. I felt a lot of guilt because my parents are very religious and I didn't want them to have another gay son. Before he even came out I suspected (knew) and it strained our relationship.

But I finally grew up and got over it and now we are very close.

And he is also younger and much better looking than me so I can sympathize with ya there. ;-)

My sister is gay. She came out 10 years after I did.

My parents, who seemed to accept my homosexuality, were beside themselves when she came out. It seems they didn't believe her - they just thought she hadn't found the "right guy". So I sat them down and confronted, talked to them and over time they have adjusted.

By the way, she got the last laugh by having 2 kids with her partner via artificial insemination (which horrified the family LOL!). So I have a Nephew and Niece now.

I don't know what this has to do with your brother except to say it can be fun as well as difficult.
