I'm semi in-charge of the Queer Student Union organization on my campus this semester, and I need to create flyers to help spread the word of the location and meeting time across campus but I don't have many creative ideas. I saw an example of one from years past, and it had a picture of bert and ernie from sesame street flying a kite together, with the information there.

I was wondering if anyone had some ideas they'd like to share with me.

What about 'We're here, we're queer, get over it...
Get over to the QSU tonight"

Or you could have a tea dance on a sunday afternoon.

hahaha, I like the Jerkin, but i'm not sure if I should promote the fact that the major reason people actually go to QSU is to find out who the other gay people on campus are so they know who to hook up with.

Although everyone knows it, I don't know if I should make it a said thing.

We're supposed to be dealing with Queer related issues in the town and on campus, not be a dating service.

I used to facilitate a GLB group at a midwest university. We used to advertise the group as a place where people could come and meet people like themselves. Often gay students who are not out yet think there is no on else who is gay on campus, or they don't know how to meet other GLB folks around. Sometimes students need to meet other GLB students to gain some confidence to be themselves in a "safe" environment with other GLB students.

There is a gay club at my college and i cant bring my self to steep in those doors.
I'm a very out going person but fuck i cant even admit to other gay people that I'm gay. I don't know why, I'm scared as shit to even be seen by anything that has to do with gay life , gay clubs, I'm so down for, but nothing that's public.

I so badly want to go to next weeks meeting but FUCK i just cant bring my self to do such a thing at all, and its really a shame because in my entire life i have only had one openly gay friend and i haven't spoken to her in such a long time i cant even remember. At the moment at my school they are displaying each and every club there is out there and i just pass by the gay Stan like it doest exist, how ever i was fast enough to nab one of there flyers off of there stan tho.

Fuck this really dose suck its like i have some sorta of anxiety or some shit but, THAT'S NOT ME I'm fearless, well, almost........

P.S sorry for the thread HiJacking

Would it be a bad idea to have "the couple" on your flier - Lance & what's-his-name on half and maybe Ellen & what's-her-name on half and invite people to come and talk and find stability?

Ok, probably a bad idea, but I do want to help!

Actually, I find that a straight forward flyer advertising the LGBTA group itself is enough. It's obvious that if you go, you'll meet other LGBTA's, so just focus on what it is your group does (Queer issues). One of the minnie flyers we have just says "Looking for queer activism? You got it!" and lists the activist groups, meeting times and locations, and events coming up within the month.

I made this one. View attachment 144947

i think it looks okay. any thoughts?

Man, I think the one you shared is great. Gets the point across, won't offend those pricks that get offended by people like us. Good job.
And good for you in taking on the responsibility for organizing and participating in this organization.

Windgate,

It doesn't matter what you say on the flyer, it's "how the flyer looks".....like the color of the paper it's own and some "colorful" printing on the flyer and you are "In like Flynn"!!!! lol

Soooooooo, try using some "bright pink paper" or other colorful "bright" paper to print the info on and then use LOTS of rainbow art work on the flyer to get your point across......

"ANYONE" will recognize the "RAINBOW" symbol for being Gay and they will read your flyer...........I guarantee it!!!

Good luck, and have fun with the group, and do NOT fear having the group on the campus, just do it!!(*8*) (*8*)
