A lot of the time when my foreskin retracts my glans swells up a bit, making it harder to put the foreskin back in place... Is this normal? :/

Yea quite normal with some uncut guy, mine does it when I am really hard. Thats the problem in having a big knob :)

Not dangerous or abnormal when it's still possible to pull it back to its original position.

When it's not possible, or to painful to bring the foreskin back to it's original flaccid state, becaue of a swollen head, you may have a condition know as paraphimosis.

And that's the key- whether you can slide the foreskin back and forth when you're hard.

The head of the penis is erectile tissue just like the shaft. The head will get bigger when you have a hard-on. What happens is that blood flows in to the head but is trapped there which makes the head swell and often take on a red-purple color. When the blood drains from the penis, the erection goes away.

As codeerror mentioned, paraphimosis is a condition where the foreskin is tight to the point that it prevents blood from flowing in to the penis. The foreskin forms a collar below the edge of the penis (called the corona) and cannot be slid forward until the erection goes away. If it sounds like this might be the problem you're describing, you should ask your doctor about the issue.

My foreskin doesn't retract when erect, does that still mean paraphimosis?

Thanks for the answers.

Its is only a problem if you cannot get it back when you are kinda soft.

Phimosis is when you can't pull the foreskin backward (toward your body) over the head of penis.

Paraphimosis is when you can't slide the foreskin forward and it gets trapped like a turtleneck behind the glans.
